It was designed to carry 1000 gallons of water in a poly tank and has a 1250 gallon per minute Hale single stage pump. Carrying (2) 1-3/4" 200 foot crosslays, one 300 foot 1-3/4" long line on the rear of the truck and a 200 foot 2-1/2" attack line there as well. The supply lines have 1200 feet of 4 inch double jacket cotton with quick disconnect couplings and 300 feet of 3 inch standard supply line. A complete Holmatro rescue tool system is also located on the vehicle along with a full complement of lights, fans and hand tools. The vehicle was housed in the station during a ceremony on Sunday, October 28, 2012
Studington Fire Rescue is a department northeast of Los Angelego County and routinely runs mutual aid into Castle Beach Fire and other Los Angelego County municipalities. It is a collaborative effort started by Paulo R. and Anthony D. Currently, there are 14 members of this faction.
Engine 11 is the engine company for Station 11. The short wheelbase allows for the rig to maneuver in tight spaces. However, Engine 11 carries a full complement of equipment and is classified as a Type I Triple Combination. Furthermore, the rig is certified as a Type III urban search and rescue apparatus (basically means that it is equipped to conduct safe search and rescue ops at structural collapse of light frame construction and limited low angle rescue ops). Lastly, a paramedic is assigned to this rig every shift, making this an ALS certified rig. That's a lot of certifications!

Midland Red DD13 6157 in Cannock Bus Station on 9th January 1982, following the heavy snowfall experienced from December into early January. Good efforts have been made to clear the snow from the service roads, but the thaw has begun to set in. The bus station was still in its original 'as built' state at the time, complete with concrete bus shelters and large Atlas Alpha-Two fluorescent street lights. In the backdrop, an 'International' supermarket, a long established company that later became part of the Safeway supermarket group, who themselves are long defunct in the UK.
Rescue Platform 1 is a state of the art Rosenbauer T-Rex Articulating Platform that was modified in order to fit the narrow streets in Castle Beach! FDCB previously had a Bronto Skylift that the firefighters loved; however, the massive size of the vehicle, in conjunction with the weight of tools and number of responses as a front-line apparatus, took its toll rather quickly. With this in mind, the apparatus committee looked at several options to reduce the size and weight. The Snorkel was an attractive option at first, but the short aerial height and minimum side reach limited its applications. Then, one committee member brought up the idea of how most European platform trucks were on a single axle. In addition, since the proposed vehicle is not to be a first-due truck, it did not need to carry all the necessary equipment for truck operations (Ventilation, search and rescue, vehicle extrication, etc.). Hence, we inquired at several apparatus designers to see who would be able to develop a single axle chassis with an articulating platform. Of the companies that we talked to, only Rosenbauer submitted a bid and thus, became the designer for the rig. Since that time, several modifications were made so that the vehicle would be able to carry equipment for its primary goals (High angle rescue, Low angle rescue, Confined space rescue, rope rescue). Although this apparatus is cross-staffed by Rescue 1, a full-time engineer and firefighter are assigned to this vehicle so that it can respond when needed without Rescue 1 having to return to the station to pick it up.
Technical specs:
2017 Spartan Evolution Cab with Rosenbauer body and modified T-Rex Articulating Platform.
100' vertical reach
78' side reach at 0 degrees
18' special articulating jib that allows for below grade operations.
Platform can also pivot 48 degrees both to the left and to the right without any restrictions.
Platform has a capacity of 1400 lbs. when dry and 1150 pounds when flowing 1500 gpm. thru the waterway

Brickadia Fire Rescue has placed this 2020 Pierce Enforcer tandem-axle rescue in service as US&R 36! This is the department’s first ever urban search and rescue apparatus and will greatly enhance their technical rescue capabilities. Since US&R 36 is only staffed by an engineer and a captain (with additional personnel from other companies), the committee decided to install a command center in lieu of where the crew would usually sit. Due to several freeways and major roads, this apparatus was designed to respond to most, if not all, motor vehicle accidents with trapped parties. As part of CA-RTF4, Brickadia can supply a rescue team and equipment that specializes in collapse, high angle, low angle, and trench rescues.

Truck Company 9 was established in 2017 to help alleviate the call load at both Station 5 and Station 9. With Squad 5 and Truck 5 running quite frequently into 9'd area, it was determined that an additional light force was needed in 9's area. Truck 9 will run in tandem with Engine 209 as Light Force 9. When the apparatus committee looked at buying a new tiller, the cost and wait time was too much for the Department. Hence, it was necessary to look at used vehicles. As it turned out, this particular apparatus happened to show up the same day our apparatus committee visited the dealer. Although the rig is a little more than 10 years old, the aerial truck was in good condition when the Department purchased the rig.

The second piece to Hazardous Materials Company 1 has been updated! With the large amount of equipment that the Hazardous Materials Team carries, this apparatus was purchased in August 2017. Whereas the main apparatus for HM1 carries the personnel and detection gear, this particular vehicle now hauls the bulky Level A and B suits and the decontamination equipment that were previously stored in Mobile Lab 1 (former Decon 1). In addition, this rig also has containment vessels and absorbent for many chemicals. The compartments on top of the trailer provide extra space for long tools that would not fit in the transverse compartments. This apparatus responds in tandem with Hazmat 1 or can be pressed into service by call-back members should the need arise.

Not such a fab photo - the tram got in the way - but it serves as an example of what should have been specified when tendering the X26. Metrobus were able to field double-decks on the route and frequently did, but Epsom Buses (or Quality Line, if you like) won't be able to spare so many - still, at the same time that Beverley-registered route 406 and 418 top-up DD 13 (YX61 FYR) was out on the X26, there was one Versa each on the 406 and 418. The normal complement on the X26 is single-doored Citaros.

Bus Éireann (Dundalk) DD28
When thinking of double deckers in the Bus Éireann fleet, of course the cities of Dublin, Cork and Galway are first thought of, as well as Limerick with its first allocation of new VWDs in 2016.
It is often forgotten however that Dublin is not the only eastern depot to have an allocation of double deckers, with Dundalk and Drogheda both having allocations of the 'DD' type for town services.
A rather dilapidated (in appearance- note the missing and damaged panels) DD28 is noted here in Dundalk having just departed the bus station operating Dundalk Town Service 174 to Bay Estate. Bus Éireann have competition on this service with Halpennys which on this day were operating exUlsterbus Solar 734 on their competing service. The 174 seemed busy enough, with one departure in particular appearing fairly full early afternoon, whilst the competing Halpennys service seemed to be carrying few passengers. With one of Ulsterbus' 2001 Solars on it, I don't blame passengers for choosing Bus Éireann!
Dundalk currently have DD13, DD24 and DD28. DD24 and 28 were both operating the 174 on this day. DD13 is from 2002, and is one of an earlier batch thought to be disposed of in 2017 when new Gemini 3s arrive.

Schneider National Intermodal 2013 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution daycab test tractor. There were only about 3 or 4 of these daycabs built for Intermodal with the full aerodynamic package which featured tank skirts and rear cab fairings to increase fuel millage. In 2014 this full aerodynamic package became standard spec on Schneider's Intermodal daycab fleet, however they went with the DD15 engines instead of these short hood DD13 engines. This tractor was on display at our yearly Intermodal Driver Advisory Council Meeting which was hosted at Joe Gibbs Racing Headquarters in Mooresville, NC in February 2013.

WMPTE ex Midland Red 6198 seen leaving Walsall (St Pauls Street) bus station in 1980, working from Sutton Coldfield garage.
Photo taken 1980 - the same year that 6198 was withdrawn from service.
Note the thin blue band applied to this bus - a Walsall paintshop hallmark, this bus having been painted at Walsall in mid May 1974. The lack of a body moulding at upper deck floor level meant that it was too troublesome for Carlyle Works (*) to apply this thin blue band. 6198 retained its central exit to the end, whereas some others of it's type, presumably to use up spare works capacity and make vehicle shortage problems worse, were converted to single door arrangement at Coventry.
(*) Midland Red 's Carlyle Works had been contracted to repaint most of the ex Midland Red vehicles, but some were painted instead at Walsall. Walsall paintshop hand-painted buses at this time, Carlyle was a spray-paint facility.

Castle Beach Fire Department Engine 11 was formed in late 2018 to address the needs of an additional station in the eastern part of Castle Beach where vegetation and brush areas could ignite. Station 11 is now home to Engine 11, Wildland 11, and Fast Response 11. Engine 11 was purchased used from the local Pierce dealer back in 2016 and was originally designated as Engine 208 before transitioning to Engine 11. The apparatus is one of three frontline engines with All-Wheel-Drive capabilities and a raised suspension. A unique feature of this rig is the bumper mounted Akron monitor, which is useful for fighting brush fires. Since Station 11’s response area is predominately hilly areas with plenty of vegetation, this apparatus gives homeowners a vote of confidence to prevent brush fires from ravaging their homes.
