One of our family traditions around Canadian Thanksgiving is a family hike through the forest. The forests are often starting to peak in their autumn transition about this time of year, and this year is no exception. I love the wonderful light trapped in all of the leaves in this image. And, of course, I love Mr. DC, my youngest, who brings so much joy into my life! My latest episode on the Mark IV covers the High ISO performance - see it here: bit.ly/2dDNwvN. I've also got a little one minute video that gives you a look some raw 4K footage from the camera in different settings: bit.ly/2dqvfQo

“Heroism is a community. And it starts with the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA.”
________________________________
The flagship Justice League title of DC Rebirth by Steve Orlando and Ivan Reis continues to shine with unforgettable character moments, stunning art, and a variety of much-appreciated callbacks to Pre-Flashpoint continuity.
Although this series has garnered increasing criticism since its debut for switching up the artists and delaying the current Microverse arc until now, it is still LEAGUES better than Bryan Hitch's Justice League, which is a steaming pile of diseased dog poopy. Hitch cannot write and he cannot draw. All of his story arcs revolve around horribly convoluted timeline fuckery, and the entire run honestly feels like joyless fanfiction written by someone without the capacity to convey emotion.
In contrast, JLA is consistently full of the small, personal moments that add so much genuine emotional depth to a comic. I love how the team's new headquarters are located by the oceanside, and that they primarily operate in the lesser known cities of the DC Universe. And LOBO, my god! He is one reason alone to read this comic, everything is just made 10x better with the Main Man.
Designing and releasing this shot was a logistical nightmare. If you've noticed already, Black Canary is missing her characteristic jacket, thanks to me getting ripped off TWICE by CapeMadness on Bricklink. This alone delayed the shot for about 3 months. In addition, Lobo's not purist whatsoever, and I neither wanted to wait half a year for the official Lobo and Rebirth Batman figs nor simply use my existing purist version, which isn't as exciting as my custom one. Finally, I ran into a lot problems when editing the final picture together.
Some notes on the fig designs:
I switched up Batman's design for Eden's because of the belt contour; it really is more accurate, despite their being less detail on the torso print in general. I also doubled up on capes, despite already having the duotone feature of the Maleficent cape. I just didn't think it was long enough to make him imposing.
A closer look at Killer Frost will be posted on my secondary photostream this evening. I combined the cupcake and beard pieces to give her hair a lot of volume.
Lobo's a custom figure made from Poppunkmunky and OnlineSailin parts. I NEVER thought Lego would ever make an official version of such a crude character, hence why I bought the custom in the first place. Oh well! Maybe I'll reshoot this when the official one releases...

Well after a month without posting, I have returned with my 183rd installment to my DC Figure Series. None of these figures are new but have been updated since previously shown
Lord Death Man: I tried to go for a more rebirth version here. Unfortunately the pants and boot colors are switched but oh well.I also just wanted to test out Jack's head on him.
Jonah Hex: The last version's colors were kind of all over the place. This time around, I implemented pieces that blended together better.
Ratcatcher: After I saw the new city pilot oxygen masks, I KNEW I had to test it out on my boy Otis.
So yeah, that's all for now, express your thoughts down below.

NOTE: This was reuploaded on 3/29/2017 after I realized that I had foolishly deleted the original image from Flickr when I accidentally turned on auto-upload on my phone and freaked out when I saw all my phone pictures on Flickr (although this really wasn't the case). This was unfortunately caught in the mass-deletion crossfire.
Northwest Washington, D.C. This residential entrance is rather unique and looks to be a rental as well. Washington is full of such gems. Taken a few years ago but I suspect it's still there, unchanged.
Note: I should have placed this photo -- and all of the other ones that I'll be uploading on April 18-19, 2015 -- at the end of this album of Washington, DC photos (i.e., the ones that got uploaded first), because they were taken in 1946, long after my mother had gotten divorced, and moved (with me) from Florida back to her mother's house in Washington, DC.
In a few of the photos, you'll note that my mother has now met, and presumably begun dating, my stepfather Ray Yourdon. He was based in Washington at the end of his Navy enlistment; and when it was all over, they got married and the family moved to Denver in 1947 (which you'll find in a separate Flickr album covering the period of 1947-50).
******************************
Mom's note on this snapshot says, "The dishpan again". No specific date on this picture, so I've arbitrarily assigned the date of July 15th of 1946.
**********************************
All of the photos in this album are “originals” from the period when I was an infant in the mid-1940s — i.e., the period before I lived in Omaha, Riverside, Roswell, New York, Ft. Worth, and Denver (photos of which you may have seen already in my Flickr archives).
Before I get into the details, let me make a strong request — if you’re looking at these photos, and if you are getting any enjoyment at all of this brief look at some mundane Americana from 70+ years ago: find a similar episode in your own life, and write it down. Gather the pictures, clean them up, and upload them somewhere on the Internet where they can be found. Trust me: there will come a day when the only person on the planet who actually experienced those events is you. Your own memories may be fuzzy and incomplete; but they will be invaluable to your friends and family members, and to many generations of your descendants.
My own story changes dramatically at this point: the man I’ve presented as my Dad in previous Flickr albums, Ray Yourdon, was actually my stepfather. My birth parents grew up in Washington DC, married, and moved to Florida in the early days of World War II. My birth father worked as a flight instructor for the Air Force, and I was born on an Air Force base near Ft. Walton Beach, in the panhandle section of Florida (which you can read about here, if you’re interested: www.eglin.af.mil )
Some time after that, my parents divorced and my mother moved back to Washington with me, to live with her mother. After a bitter custody battle over me (so I’ve been told), I didn’t see my birth-father again until I was 30—at which point I was surprised to learn that I had three more half-sisters, in addition to the two I had grown up with (i.e., both my mother and my birth-father had remarried after they got divorced from each other). But that’s another story, with another set of photos ...
Meanwhile, my mother worked as a secretary in the Pentagon as the war wound down, and when my stepfather ended up in Washington toward the end of his tour of duty in the Navy, they met, and married, and moved to Denver to begin a new life … chapters of which you’ve been seeing in these Flickr albums during the last several weeks.
So the photos in this album are from my birth in Florida through the first year or so of my childhood in Washington — uploaded in reverse chronological order, starting in 1945. I haven’t written any details, because I have no conscious memory of what was happening at the time; and at this point, all of my parents, step-parents, and grandparents are gone. Yes, I do have five wonderful sisters, all of whom share various memories with me; but I’m the oldest of the brood, so I have no siblings with first-hand information about what I was doing for the first year or two of my life.
All I have are the photos that you see here. But they do tell a story, and that’s why I think it’s so important that you track down all of your own photos and preserve them somewhere for the generations who will follow after you.

Hush: I gave him the same head design as before but technically it is a new head. He has a new torso and tighter legs. I gave him an electrical tape trenchcoat (the worst one I have done so I will redo it eventually), two brown arms, and two red hands.
Zatanna: I gave her the female ACU head/ Star Wars Rebel head after seeing Samuel give it to her. I also gave her dual molded legs and a black hip.
Black Canary: Same as last time except with Chell's head
Anthony Zucco: I had the parts so why not

I have lived in Washington DC almost twenty years and have visited most of the museums, buildings and attractions at one time or another. To me, the most impressive is the Thomas Jefferson Building, the oldest and most recognizable Library of Congress building.
I have visited the LOC a few times but never attempted to get photos until my last visit. The scale is simply overwhelming. My lack of experience for indoor, architectural photography did not do justice to the grandeur of the place, but hopefully this short series will be of some interest. To me it's a must-see for any visit to DC.

Had to get a little dirty for this one. The tourists were looking at me like I was from another planet, while I was lying on the ground taking this shot. Did I mention the off-white khaki shorts?

The armored super-genius of Earth 8's premier hero team the Retaliators!
If you couldn't tell, Machinehead is a pastiche of Marvel's Iron Man. The entirety of Earth 8 is an expy of the Marvel 616 universe - their prime continuity - and Earth 7 is an expy of the Ultimate Marvel continuity, because it never hurts to have a stand-in around for the distinguished competition!
