I was fortunate to have a day and an evening to tour and photograph in DC last week. I was even more fortunate to meet flickr friend Scott McLeod there

(www.flickr.com/photos/dscottmcleod) for a walking tour. Scott made the trip a success with his suggestions on places and times and even exposures. Look at Scotts truly great channel.

This is a three shot combination into HDR in LR then I sharpened it in NIK to give the present look.

My photo is featured in the 2009 book "Legend: The Story of the DC-3/C-47 Dakota" by Philip Kaplan.

The same year Nikola Tesla was giving the lecture "On Electricity" for the occasion o the commemoration of the introduction of Niagara Falls power in Buffalo NY. These gauges are from 1916, the same year Tesla declares bankruptcy.

This picture was taken at around 12th Street and Independence Ave in Washington, DC. The archway is apart of the US Department of Agriculture building.

A survivor of the Berlin airlift. The DC-3 was the mainstay of the wests efforts to keep Berlin supplied during the crisis. From 26 June 1948 to 30 September 1949 to carried supplies to the people of West Berlin, a difficult feat given the size of the city and the population.

Located in the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington DC is the reflective Pool of Remembrance. It is situated at the end of the Field of Service where the famous statues of soldiers whose triangle juts into a 128 foot diameter circular pool that mimics the Korean Peninsula’s protrusion into the Korean Strait and the East China Sea. I captured this image in June of 2022, about a month before the pool and the adjacent Remembrance Wall were open & dedicated on July 27, 2022, so it was still getting the finishing touches thus the construction apparatus in the center. The young Linden Trees in the background (there are 40) create a barrel effect allowing the sun to reflect on the pool.
