“Why am I not like the others, Prime One? These questions! These feelings! Why am I more like an eternal of New Genesis than a bug?”

______________________________

I’m no expert on many comics published by anyone outside of the big two, and certainly not even those from DC’s new Young Animal imprint. From my outsider perspective, Wildstorm, Mother Panic, Cave Carson, and Shade the Changing Girl seem to be excellent titles in their own rights - just not relevant enough to the mainstream DCU to sufficiently warrant my interest.

But in early May came a new contender to my attention - Bug: The Adventures of Forager. The titular character is a creation of none other than the outrageously imaginative Jack Kirby himself. While I still have a LOT of Kirby to catch up on, all you really need to know is that Bug is a humanoid bug of New Genesis’ sub-surface who feels an inexplicable calling to something greater than himself. It’s a tremendously interesting premise for a story, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this 6-issue miniseries takes this humble hero.

Two more to go.

From L to R

Killer Moth- Torso is the back of Pythor's from Ninjago. Wings are from some alien set. I like this more modern look to him.

Deadman V.2- another more modern take on a character. Head is Aldrich Killian's and Torso is Ant man Hank Pym's.

Suicide Squad Joker- Using some amazing decals by Timcan2904 I made this. He looks so cool, great job bro!

Reverse flash (new 52)-after seeing Venompool8530's I decided to put the ant man helmet on my decool reverse flash. I think it looks cool.

So I threw these together and updated my Booster way back when Jonathan posted his. I didn't wanna post it though until after I had shown off the New 52 Deadshot, whom the Deadshot helmet design I've been employing was intended for, BUT I didn't wanna post that Deadshot till I had finished King Shark and lord knows that took a while.

Anyways, story time's over.

Deadshot. As he appears in Bulletproof: Super-Adaptoid helmet w/ my trademark scope (I have two of these now), Tony Stark head, Knight's Kingdom armor, CMF Devil Kid torso, Alien Conquest legs, Scarlet Spider arms, CMF Climber legs.

Atomic Skull: Bellville head, Kryptonian armor, March Harriet arms, reversed Mandarin torso, CMF Dino Hunter legs.

Red Arrow: Indiana Jones head, Ninjago mask/torso, Galaxy Patrol legs.

Blue Beetle: Same as last time, but now with Cap'n America head.

Booster Gold: Updates Inspired by Jonathan. Rebel Pilot head, Chima armor, Star piece from Space Cap'n America's jetpack, Senate Guard torso.

Let me know what you think!

I thought of Hawk the moment I saw Calendar Man's legs in the official set art. I personally don't know too much about these characters outside of their general background and power sets, but I do remember that they were involved in the ultimate showdown at the end of Blackest Night.

I'm pretty proud with how both of these characters turned out. I was hoping to have a Light Blue torso on hand instead of the depicted Medium Blue one, but alas, c'est la vie. Hawk would probably do better with a head of a white base color, but I think Calendar Man's fits fine as well.

Hawk: Calendar Man head/legs, SW Clone Trooper torso, Ninjago armor, custom-cut red cape

i'm pretty much back if you couldn't already tell.

3 characters i don't see much of.

L to R:

Giganta: i've never seen this Torso/Leg combo before, but i stumbled upon this figure on BL and i really liked the look, and i think i'll stick with it.

Padme Head, Dana Barrett torso/leg, and March Harriet arms.

Steel: i was watching Legends of tomorrow and i love Steel on there, so i wanted to make a version of him, so here he is. simple yet soooo effective in my opinion.

Dr Doom Head, PoP armor, and Super Adaptoid torso.

Circe: now i never see this character, which i can see why, she's pretty hard to recreate, so i pretty much made a Circe just using a bunch of different sources, because basing it on one version in particular seemed to be challenging.

Atomic-powered superheroes have the coolest power sets. Not only do they get the traditionally "cool" superpowers such as super strength, flight, and invulnerability, but they also boast abilities such as matter manipulation and time dilation.

Firestorm's my second-favorite DC superhero - everything about him is super cool. Consequently, I've been trying for quite a while to make a proper purist version of him for my collection. The head has always been the hardest part; Flash's has visible pupils and doesn't look enough like a helmet, and it's quite difficult to find a good flame piece that can be integrated into the Nexo Knight visor solution I came up with about a year ago.

But now I think I'm quite happy with this final iteration. This figure boasts a 1x1 open stud plate with a scissor-cut tube threaded through the bottom to hold it in place in the visor receptacle. This allows for the attachment of any minifig hairpiece on top of the helmet. Adam was kind enough to give his opinions on whether the Syndrome or Ghost Rider flame piece looked better for a purist fig, and I agree that the smoother finish of the former lends it a certain kind of sleekness.

Captain Atom and Major Force are purist upgrades of my previous custom-printed versions. When I was looking for a suitable hairpiece for Atom on BL, I was really surprised to find out that Lego actually made an official pearl-grey version of his flat-top hair. The background choice for this shot was inspired by Captain Atom's ludicrous New 52 run where he phased into the time stream of life itself and literally became a Hindu God.

Check out my second photostream (tagged below) for the Jefferson Jackson variant that's actually going in my collection!

Tattooed Man: I may be wrong but I think I'm the first person to make at least this version of Tattoed Man. Pretty happy how he turned out. Based off this: images.app.goo.gl/b4HkHuCiPwojNWts9

Mongol: Pretty sure I've seen someone use this torso and helmet before. Comment if you know who.

Doctor Destiny: Took the head Duncan used and the body and cloak and etc that Reed Builds.

Merlyn: Duncan's but with added bits of purple.

Enjoy the figs!
