A WORLD OF COLOR Sophomore Kiera Boehle focuses on the Day of the Dead altar that she was setting up as a part of Art Society volunteer work in the main hall on Thursday, October 24th. The altar displayed photographs, trinkets, flowers and other decorations honoring people that have died. “We made it all nice,” Boehle said. “That’s one of the reasons I like Art Society, it contributes to the art community, and allows you to experience the world even when you’re in such a small space like a high school.”

This "person I know" bought this souvenir human skull in Shanghai, China a few years ago. Remarkably, "this person" had their bags x-rayed and passed thru security and Customs and nobody ever asked "this person" why did they have a human skull in their suitcase?
See my photostream for more Day of the Dead. I put many Dia De Los Muertos pieces out in October and early November -- but I don't actually mix them with my vintage Halloween because in old Mexico that's considered a cultural infraction of sorts. But she is so beautiful with her salt glaze colouring, tiny baby on her back, long braids and somber expression.
