For several days thunderstorms have rattled windows of Gold Coast Queensland homes. Today's storms included 20mm hailstones on my own house and garden. This shot was taken about 50 minutes earlier looking south over the Queensland — New South Wales border. What could be called a striking image!
Seeing a CSX train in daylight on the Hudson Line is uncommon due to both trains (Q701/Q704) having evening on duty times, however there are some instances where a mishap warrants a daylight run.
Southbound train Q701 round up pulling a drawbar between Ossining and Scarborough in the wee hours of the morning. As a result a CSX yard crew ran two light AC44s to assist while the original crew went on the law. After a few moves of setting the defective car out the (now) four engines ran to pick up the head end of the train before running around the cut and doubling it up to the rest of the train. This move provided a rare daylight photo of a northbound CSX train in Croton-Harmon with CSX AC44CW 477 leading three CSX units and 40ish cars. For much of the 2000s only SD40-2s and SD60Is/Ms were found on Hudson Line freights due to their plows being cut for third rail clearance, but due to the SD60s being retired the AC44s have taken their place.

1. The bald eagle sees the osprey with the fish and gives chase!
2. Eventually the osprey drops the fish and the bald eagle goes after it.
3. The bald eagle picks up the stunned fish from the sea.
4. The bald eagle realises it's being photographed!
5. The osprey comes back at the eagle to try and get the fish.
6. The osprey gives up and the bald eagle leaves with the fish.
