Didn't do much in the morning and afternoon besides walk Mimi and catch up on the daily. For the most part, just chilled and relaxed. When Mindy got off work, we checked out some spots and then headed over to Teaway in Alameda for a drink. Headed to Marvin and Elissa's place to catch up and see what they have been up to. Mindy was there as well to purchase some tank tops from Marvin. For quite some time, I always wanted to a photo of what I have or use everyday. The title Essentials is self-explanatory and is my 366 entry for today.

Shot on iPhone 5.

Tonight was a real buzz for me. I'm in Seattle for work for two nights, and my flickr mates Giovanni and Slackpacket/Steven both made a huge effort and drove for hours so we could meet in person. We had dinner and just went for a photo walk. G is currently driving back home and Steven won't get a chance to upload for a few days. They got much better photos of us (G has one of us altogether), but I'm first :-)

It's something we all talk about in our flickr flock - wouldn't it be cool to get together. Well, tonight three of us did and it was cool.

Went for a 90km ride with the Ottawa Bicycle Club Sunday rides. I'm still out of shape, having been inactive for three years. The process is painfully slow, but slowly, I'm getting back in shape. My goal this year is too bike 3,000km. 3650

This was taken with my iPhone while riding. I'm behind the white jersey rider.

Week 56, Assignment 2: Giants and Lilliputians

The calm before the storm, and what a storm it was. Our team was leading 2-1 after the first period, only to loose 7-3. Ouch!! Game 5 is tonight, and of course it's a must win if we want to stay alive in the playoffs.

PS: Well, the ride is over. After a season that surpassed expectations, the Sens were eliminated last by Pittsburg. As a fan, I'm very happy with the team and the season. They beat the odds all season long and were always very entertaining to watch. See you next season.

Finally beginning to cut through some bonds that were constricting

Funny thing is I tied the knots myself.

May 21 : Day 142

I arrived at the office today to discover the first "use" for the awful shot they took of me last week :

An A5-size magazine / booklet thingy called "BankLife" that's produced every month has me on page 10.

There were a couple of copies around the office and in the staff break room and a couple in the main lobby but I couldn't get any of these as I got a dirty look from the receptionist when I picked up a copy . . .

The only way I could get a shot of it to share with you was to take one of the office notebook computers (with company intranet access) and show you the .pdf version of "BankLife" from the X:\ drive . . .

. . . So, here I am with it

+ + They must have got a good deal on blue ink + +

- On screen here are pages 10 & 11 of the print version

- I blurred the other guys in case they don't want to be on flickr

- Yes : some of the walls in the office building are this blue/purple colour

- Sorry for the expression on my face but I was afraid someone would come in and catch me taking the shot !

(and they're not above informing on you if they catch you with a camera)

No explanation for this photo, I just felt like doing that.

Out walking on the Ridge Trail behind my works community. This plant covered wall was a great backdrop with the red hair and purple cardigan!

May 22, 2015: 142/365 (2699/2992)- Had a chance to be in Port St. Joe this afternoon when I saw the lighthouse looking so lonely. After scouting the area I got out the Phantom for a quick flight in the late day sun. I got about 25 shots from different angles before the first battery started getting low. No one ever came to see what I was doing, so I loaded everything in the truck and quickly headed back home!

Day 142 - May = Green.

New skirting boards fitted tonight whilst my wife painted some bright blue colour on some walls in another room.

Whats left to say that I didn't already say in yesterday's blog. Well, it took me until well after 8pm to start feeling better. I forced down a few crackers (48 to be semi exact) and started feeling better. I then ate a full dinner and drank a whole lot of water.

Today's shot unfortunately features me again. I wasn't in the mood to search out a volunteer and frankly I just didn't want to get dressed. I figured that since I was going to lounge and watch a movie, I'd put on the tackiest pajamas I could find and use them for the shot. If you cannot already figure out the theme I'll just give you a hint. A burglar with a poor choice in attire, decides to rob a house but doesn't pay attention to the beware of dog sign. A killer yorkie stops him in his tracks. It happens every day! She's a viscous one!

I had gathered my gear and made my way outside only for the sprinklers to threaten me. I absolutely hate the sprinkler system as I feel it is out to sabotage me. Its just waiting for the perfect time where I have all my gear out at once. Luckily today I finally figured out how to shut the whole system off without effing up the timer. It turns out there is a simple on and off switch. Up until now I'd just turn the timer dial until it shuts down. This would really screw with the timing and the sprinklers would end up coming on in the middle of the day — not good!

Anyway, I recruited my mothers dog Gidget to play the role of killer guard dog. I couldn't get her to look at me while the picture was being taken. The self timer would distract her every time. It was funny because she would stare at me up until the last second before the camera went off. 7 times in a row this would happen. I decided to composite a shot of her looking at me while I was on the ground together with the shot of me on the fence. This made things much easier.

The panty hose on my head were the same ones used in Day 72. I love to keep little props like that, because you never know when you'll need to take a picture or rob a liquor store. The other day, Shawn came home from the ER with 2 of those surgical masks. I was excited to find a use for them. Unfortunately Shawn doesn't think in "photographic" mode like me. He threw them away before I got to use them. Damn him! I have so many props and I would love to collect more. Only problem is I don't have the space to store them. I did however, receive a bad ass pimp hat from my friend Judi. Better believe the second I get a purple suite and some shiny wing tip shoes I'll be introducing Devious Honey M. Sneed The whitest pimp to ever play the game!

Anyway, I'm about to go watch all three pirates of the Caribbean movies so I'm ready for the 4th.

Day 2 of "Smelly week" where I share a special smell with you each day.

As part of my "Smelly Week" today I bring you 'Garden dried linen'. I got quite giddy, sniffing these sheets and as the shutter pressed, I tried to nail down what exactly it is about that beautiful smell - and what memories it brings back.

I closed my eyes and was filled of thoughts of being put to bed in clean sheets as a child, the smell encapsulating comfort, reassurance and innocence. I am old enough to remember the pre-duvet days of my Dad tucking me in. Sheets were pastel striped flannelette and the coarse, heavy blankets had worn and familiar sewn-in labels, in one corner. Whenever I put on new sheets, I still feel that excitement at the feel and the smell as I slip in. I don't think I ever take in washing from the line without a deep sniff. I've bucked the trend for the ghastly space-saving rotary washing line, how can that possibly achieve the same results? I still have a traditional line across my garden, with a wooden prop that raises my washing higher, to catch even more delicious smells.

Brown teddy insisted on making an appearance. Who am I to deny him his audience? If I recall correctly this was taken at the end of a loooong day. But it was so long ago who is really to know?

"It's all a farce,—these tales they tell

About the breezes sighing,

And moans astir o'er field and dell,

Because the year is dying.

Such principles are most absurd,—

I care not who first taught 'em;

There's nothing known to beast or bird

To make a solemn autumn.

In solemn times, when grief holds sway

With countenance distressing,

You'll note the more of black and gray

Will then be used in dressing.

Now purple tints are all around;

The sky is blue and mellow;

And e'en the grasses turn the ground

From modest green to yellow.

The seed burs all with laughter crack

On featherweed and jimson;

And leaves that should be dressed in black

Are all decked out in crimson.

A butterfly goes winging by;

A singing bird comes after;

And Nature, all from earth to sky,

Is bubbling o'er with laughter.

The ripples wimple on the rills,

Like sparkling little lasses;

The sunlight runs along the hills,

And laughs among the grasses.

The earth is just so full of fun

It really can't contain it;

And streams of mirth so freely run

The heavens seem to rain it.

Don't talk to me of solemn days

In autumn's time of splendor,

Because the sun shows fewer rays,

And these grow slant and slender.

Why, it's the climax of the year,—

The highest time of living!—

Till naturally its bursting cheer

Just melts into Thanksgiving."

Paul Laurence Dunbar ~ 1893

Did that just crack you up or did that just crack you up?

Curvaceous hand-forged frames are daintily sprinkled and adorned with gemmies in a truly delectable palette reminiscent of Fall leaves. Genuine Colombian Emeralds flirt impishly alongside Polished Watermelon Tourmalines in Golden Yellow and Cranberry Pink. Here, there and almost everywhere, Virginal White Seed and Button Pearls make sporadic appearances, adding lovely textural relief.

Naturally, stunning briolettes accord finishing touches to Merry Autumn. But you've come to expect the unexpected from Eclettica and this is no exception :)

Doing things a little differently, the luscious Pink Amethyst Briolettes have been double wrapped with a pair of wee Seed Pearls each. This not only sets of the palest of lilac coloring of the Pink Amethyst but also lends a further air of fragility that is truly alluring.

Whee! My connection is sorted! Thank the Lord for that, I felt like I was missing an arm. I even had to venture outside!

I really struggled to find something to photograph in my garden today!

When I first started my self imposed monthly theme of In Somebody's Garden I thought this month would be singing with colour and teaming with insect life! How wrong could I have been?

There's still another nine days of the month to go, and I haven't got a clue what I'll be able to shoot tomorrow!

Oh well, at least my little hebe bush did me proud today! :)
