I am also delighted (and very excited) to introduce this particular Light Painting and the back story that goes with it. I created this LP back in December 2014 and the story behind it will bring a smile to my face for some time to come.
Back in September of last year someone (thanks Ollie!) suggested that I submit some of my photography work to The Telegraph / Nikon for the 'I am Different' ad campaign that was being launched by the UK arm of Nikon. Weeks passed and I heard nothing back, and so I naturally assumed that my work had not made the cut.
However, after another couple of weeks I got an email saying that my work had really impressed them and that they were very keen to work with me on the project idea that I submitted! I cannot describe both the excitement and the nerves that I felt at that point, as I learned that a 6-person camera crew would be flown over to Guernsey to film me making my work. In fact, I still can't quite believe that this all happened!
After many hours spent planning the logistical side of things that go hand-in-hand when hosting a camera crew at the start of winter on a small island that is regularly battered by high winds and rain (esp in December!), the actual film shoot went really well I am relieved to say. What an experience! I have to express such thanks to the film crew and in particular Steph who orchestrated the whole shoot. And I thought I was busy!

What a night that was. I had another 5 incredibly talented photographers on tonight's Light Painting Workshop, and it was an absolute pleasure teaching them. The fog rolled in mid-way through the Workshop but it made for some pretty dramatic conditions in the end!

Throughout 2018 I have been busy working on a new photographic project in Scotland using my miniature figurines (the 'Little People').
My main hope is that this new series of photographs will help highlight the plastic / litter epidemic our country (and planet) is suffering from. Littering in general has always sickened me, and the 'Blue Planet II effect' really made me feel like I too could help highlight the issue using my own unique approach.
Earlier this year, I spent several days collecting bags full of plastic and rubbish that had been discarded (or washed up) next to beaches and lochs on the west coast of Scotland, mostly 'beauty' spots. I kept some of this plastic to make my work (recycling the rest) and returned to the banks of Loch Lomond a couple of months ago to photograph my latest series - LIFE IN PLASTIC.

The Aurora Borealis Orbs:
Well, until I saw the photographs captured from Jersey 2 nights ago, I had wondered why the sky had appeared to be so red in the photos I made down at Vazon on Thursday night. As it turns out, I have unintentionally managed to capture the faint hues of the Northern Lights in the background!
Sadly I used a very low ISO and a 6 minute long exposure to create this photograph which means that the hues of the aurora have turned out rather faint and wishy-washy, but it is better than nothing.
I am just amazed that the Norhern Lights made it this far down south, all the way to the Channel. That is just crazy.

The hottest June day on record here on Guernsey in the Channel Islands. It led to some rather dramatic cloud formations and lightning just before the sun set. What a scene to watch unfold with our fish and chips!
Hulk is still not happy about the revamped sugar content in Irn-Bru but I've explained to him that it's a good thing and I think he is starting to come around to the idea now...

What could be nicer than skiing down a tiny mountain of sugar under a tiny full moon?
This little guy is only a couple of centimetres high so this really is a tiny mountain!
I used my Lenser P7 torch to create the moon effect which I was pretty happy with in the end after about ten attempts.

I always find myself looking back at this image whenever anything significant happens with regards to my Light Painting. This was the first light painting that I ever made back in 2009, and holds very fond memories.

One of the light paintings that featured in my first solo exhibition that took place at the tail end of last year.
All of these light paintings were created inside the disused tower block called 'Cour du Parc' which was a rather terrifying experience!
