Throughout 2018 I have been busy working on a new photographic project in Scotland using my miniature figurines (the 'Little People').
My main hope is that this new series of photographs will help highlight the plastic / litter epidemic our country (and planet) is suffering from. Littering in general has always sickened me, and the 'Blue Planet II effect' really made me feel like I too could help highlight the issue using my own unique approach.
Earlier this year, I spent several days collecting bags full of plastic and rubbish that had been discarded (or washed up) next to beaches and lochs on the west coast of Scotland, mostly 'beauty' spots. I kept some of this plastic to make my work (recycling the rest) and returned to the banks of Loch Lomond a couple of months ago to photograph my latest series - LIFE IN PLASTIC.

Finger LEDs
It's always good to take a step back every so often, and absorb everything that has happened. Which is exactly what I was able to do last week for the first time in months as we headed up to Scotland for 10 days to spend Easter with my parents.
I think it was the first time I have been able to properly relax this year incredibly. But what a year it has been so far. Our beautiful little daughter Léa is keeping us entertained on a daily basis, and being able to spend 10 days with my parents was extra special as they have only met Léa a couple of times so far. She absolutely loved seeing them!
I have so far managed to take a photo-a-day of Léa since she was born, something that has become a very special project for me. Watching her develop on a daily basis has been the most incredible thing I have ever witnessed - she is just amazing. Anyone that has had / has a baby will know exactly what I mean :O) What a truly magical process.
To all my Flickr contacts, I'm sorry that I have not been very active on here so far this year - life is just a little busy at the moment. But I shall return! ;o)
I'm starting to get the itch for some serious light painting action and so I will be back again soon. I hope you are all really well and that 2015 has been a great year for you so far.

Light Painting out at Machrie Moor, Isle of Arran, Scotland.
These are such majestic standing stones! After battling against swarms of what must have been easily thousands of midgees, I managed to make a few Light Paintings that I was reasonably happy with. Thanks for your help Melissa - sorry you got bitten so many times! This was easily one of the toughest shoots I've ever been on in terms of being able to work properly.

One of the light paintings that featured in my first solo exhibition that took place at the tail end of last year.
All of these light paintings were created inside the disused tower block called 'Cour du Parc' which was a rather terrifying experience!
