This building dates from 1493 - 1513. It was built behind Tree House, the old manor house of Crawley, West Sussex, which is on the east side of the High Street. It was dismantled in 1972 when scheduled for demolition and in 1978 was re-erected at the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum at Singleton, West Sussex. Its main feature is a hall on the upper floor, a long open room which was possibly originally used for communal meetings. The ground floor is divided into separate rooms.

The door dates back to the ear.ly 16th century and was called the 'marrying door' since it was in the south porch that the early parts of matrimony (and baptism) were performe'd. Those familiar with The Prologue to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales will recall the Wife of Bath: 'husbands at church door she had five'. The, Oiiginal, lock on the door represents the scallpp shell of St. James, the design serving a double purpose in that it makes it easy for the key to Iocate the key-hole in the dark!

Shots around Subiaco Oval at the end of 2017 after the cessation of AFL football at the venue. The ground dates back to 1908 when it was known as Mueller Park. It was developed with the growth of Australian Rules Football in Western Australia with a three tier stand at the western end of the ground constructed in 1969 followed by a two tier stand along the northern boundary in 1981.

With the advent of the National AFL competition the West Coast Eagles played their home games at the ground from 1987 and the Fremantle Dockers from 1995. Stands were completed along the southern boundary in 1995 and finally the eastern end in 1999 making it a fully enclosed stadium with a final capacity around 43,500 spectators. The ground had two sponsored names: Patersons Stadium (2011-2014) and Domain Stadium from 2015.

Light towers added in 1995 allowing night games to be played at Subiaco - until then night fixtures for the two WA teams were played at the WACA in East Perth.

AFL in Perth moved to the new 60,000 seat Perth Stadium for the 2018 season with Subiaco now disused with the stands awaiting demolition. The oval itself will be a public park adjoining the new high school currently under construction in Kitchener Park next door.

Suspended Animation Classic #666 First published September 30, 2001 (#39) (Dates are approximate)

Mighty Eyeball By Michael Vance

Why aren't comic books funny?

Some comic books were never meant to be ha ha humorous, some try for laughter and fail, and then there is Mighty Eyeball. It is meant to be fun, not funny.

Need proof? Driven by profit, a research firm conducted bizarre experiments in Burgerville. "I'll keep a eye out for you," said a scientist as he left his office. Lightning struck, destroying the building. Weird creatures, including the scientist's eyeball with new legs and arms, crawled from the rubble. Boy, was that scientist embarrassed.

Okay, not really. No scientist, no "I'll keep an eye…" stuff. Obviously, Suspended Animation isn't meant to be funny either. Lightning struck, and monstrous creatures created by disaster must now choose how to live their "lives" for good or bad.

"All Action! Hardly any plot!" screams a cover blurb. The cover blurb is true. What would you expect from a giant eyeball battling a huge robot with a head the size of a pellet?

If you expect excellent art, you do get that. Energetic and creative visual storytelling dominates, although the art does occasionally look flat. That is because of a scarcity of shadows that create the illusion of depth.

Is there nothing else to criticize? Yes, there are two weaknesses.

Another cover blurb promises "a gigantic trading card with a fun little story inside". My guess is that the cover is the trading card. That doesn't work.

In addition, the first issue is one long fight utilizing an incredibly irritating comics cliché. As they try to kill one another, Mighty Eyeball and his opponent talk…endlessly. That doesn't work either. When people fight, they grunt, moan, and spit blood through broken teeth. They don't dialog.

Nevertheless, Mighty Eyeball is recommended as the inspired lunacy it heralds on its cover.

ROMY HAAG Blind Dates

Singer Romy Haag is now embarking on a very special experiment in her new show: Musical "blind dates" are the focus of a project that holds exciting surprises and real discoveries in store. Because on stage, there will be encounters with artists Romy has never worked with before, including established singers and musicians from the underground, exciting new names that may not yet be known to Berlin audiences and Romy's very own insider tips.

Romy Haag skillfully spans the arc from the familiar to the magic of the new. In doing so, she always remains true to herself and once again lives up to her high standards of presenting a rocking, avant-garde and entertaining evening.

Romy Haag's concerts always resemble an enchanting rendezvous. They are poignant encounters with people and themes that have shaped the artist's multifaceted life over the past decades. Romy Haag is emotional, personally touching and also political in her songs. However, she always presents her cherished and new "favorite songs" without a rueful look back. Instead, the songs are characterized by the here and now.

Supplemented with interesting anecdotes from the various stages of her exciting life, the "Blind Dates" promise to be a captivating show.

The Crown opened in 1899 as the Lyceum Theatre. The intention was to provide a luxury theatre for Shakespeare productions and drama as well as revue.

It is a landmark building in the town of Eccles in a vaguely Elizabethan Style with pilasters and mullioned windows. The facade is constructed of moulded red brick of five storeys with terracotta dressings to three high arched windows at first floor. It is richly decorated, and has an asymmetrically placed short corner tower. This once had a pyramidal roof and the parapet was topped with square pinnacles. The cast iron copy still survives, now encased.

The auditorium was designed with three balconies, supported by four columns.

The ornamentation of the proscenium comprised an allegorical representation of Shakespeare's 'Seven Ages of Man'.

The act drop was a facsimile of Beverley's noted work for the opening of the Theatre Royal (Manchester)

in 1845 - a Grecian subject painted by Mr Keith.

Becoming a cinema in 1932,

it was later adapted for Cinemascope, ending stage use.

Converted for bingo in 1963, by the late 1980s it was reported to be falling into disrepair internally.

The exterior is largely intact, apart from the stage house which has been partly demolished.

Planning permission was given in 2005 - and again in 2008 - for partial demolition (retaining the facade)

and development of apartments behind. These works have not been started,

and the building remains empty and increasingly derelict.

Corringham, St Laurence Church, Lincolnshire

Grade I listed.

St Laurence's church, Corringham, dates from the 11th C.onwards with 1882 restoration by Bodley and Garner. The lych gate was built in the 1880's and the South porch was rebuilt by Bodley.

The tower was built in the 10th C. to a pre-existing wooden church (burnt down by the Danes) and is built in Jurassic limestone quarried from the Lincoln Edge. The tower arch with seven roll mouldings stands on a plinth of four chamfered set-offs and is 17 ft 6" high. The south and west faces of the tower contain stones showing charred red brown colour, evidence of the torching by the Danes.

In 1849 the nave roof was altered from being a pitched roof to a "flat" roof, and the Anglo-Saxon doorway above the tower arch served no purpose so it was blocked up. The font is situated under the tower arch and was made by George Green of Gainsborough in the 1849 restoration.

The north aisle dates from 11C and was enlarged in 14C. The Lady Chapel dates from 13C and is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The ceiling, by G.F. Bodley (1884), contains the "M" motif - representing the Magnificat. The Chancel has a rood screen made of oak, the base is the original rood screen which was taken down in 1565 and sold to Thomas Broxholme for 16 shillings. It was later discovered at the Vicarage and re-erected by Bodley in 1884.

The choir contains choir stalls with misericords. There is an Easter Sepulchre between the north door and the east wall and this has been re-used for the recessed tomb of William de Gare 1277-1290, Archdeacon of Lincoln.

The Organ was installed in 1884 by Messrs. Wordsworth and Maskell of Leeds and paid for by public subscription. It has a tracker action. In the 1950's it was electified and in 1974 it was cleaned and restored by Cousans of Lincoln when a balance swell pedal and two extra stops were added. The organ case was decorated by Bodley with Latin verses from the Psalms.

The Lancet window in the West tower wall is a 13th C. window with the stained glass being inserted in 1878 by C. Kempe (1838-1907) showing John the Baptist, the prophet Isaiah, and King David.

The two north aisle windows are Perpendicular (14C) and have clear quarries with emblems, in colour, representing the Passion of Christ - nails, robe, dice, lance with sponge on reed and the scourges.

All Saints' Ilkley dates back to 627 AD, when Christians first worshipped on the site. The first church here is thought to have been built from stone taken from the abandoned Roman fort of Olicana, which had previously stood on this spot.

The building we see today is partly medieval, but was largely rebuilt in Victorian times and has also undergone 20th century additions.

The pulpit dates from 1889 and is made from an oak beam that was removed in 1860 when the nave and chancel were extended.

The original organ was built in 1830, but the present three manual instrument was installed in 1882. The oak casings, made in 1953, were some of the last pieces of furniture hand-carved by Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson of Kilburn, whose signature trademark is a mouse.

Myeongdong dates back to the Joseon Dynasty when it was called Myeongryebang (명례방, 明禮坊) and mostly a residential area. During the Japanese occupation the name was changed to Myeongchijeong (명치정, 明治町) and became more of a commercial district, being influenced by the rising commerce in the neighboring Chungmuro area. It became the official district of Myeongdong in 1946, after independence

The Old Church dates to the 10th century. It was originally a single-naved barrel-vaulted church. But its apse was destroyed when the New Church was added at the end of the 10th or early 11th century. Now the Old Church provides entrance to the New Church.

This is the Al-Hussain Mosque, originally constructed in 1154 on the site of the Fatimid Caliph Cemetery, in the heart of Old Cairo, adjacent to the Khan El-Khalil Bazaar. The mosque was built by the Shia to honor Muhammad’s grandson Husayn ibn Ali, one of the earliest figures in Shia Islam, and it is said that this mosque is the place where his head is buried, making it one of the most holy Islamic sites in Egypt. The mosque contains a mausoleum, which dates back to its original construction in the 12th Century AD. The mosque was heavily renovated in the 19th Century with many Gothic Revival-Style elements added, enlarging and modernizing the structure during the Belle Époque period in which Cairo saw massive urban growth and several beautification campaigns.

The Caledonian Railway dates from 1844, running basically from Carlisle to Glasgow and Edinburgh. It regarded itself as the premier Scottish railway and appropriated the Royal Arms of Scotland. It looked superb on its rolling stock but where was Lord Lyon? Note that the Latin motto is misspelled LACESSET. (It was originally Lacesset, ie ‘May No-one Hurt Me’; as Lacessit it became a statement of fact ‘No-one Hurts Me’.
