February's Friday Late saw thousands of people and a flourishing of radical romance fill the museum, to explore the futurist ways in which technology, contemporary liberation struggles and cultural changes are reconfiguring the human pursuit and experience of love. Highlights included contemporary dance partners Pierre & Baby tussling with the platform-mediation of queer lust amid a dramatic sensory tech set-up in the Raphael Cartoons; packed talks on the globally divergent ramifications of social dating apps, and under-represented experiences of sexuality; simulations and interactive installations providing portals into alternate intimacy and romantic lifestyles like Dream Daddy and The Kiss; a surrealist choreographed micro-play about a marriage between a female objectphile and a balloon in 2095; and the radiant energy of Pxssy Palace bringing their inclusive, bouncing, celebratory party machine to the Grand Entrance underneath a larger-than-life Pxssy Palace Safe Space Policy.

So Alisa and I were long overdue for a date night! We decided to goto the Bayshore Lounge for a nice dinner and then walked across to English Bay where we watched the sun set. Afterwards we hit up the Fair at Lansdowne Mall, got some mini donuts, and kicked it back at home to watch a movie =)

Dare to Dream: New ‘Craftivism’ project
announced by Heritage Open Days
13th-22nd September 2019
This year, England’s largest festival of culture and heritage will celebrate its 25th anniversary, with a new arts commission focusing on those who have affected positive change and the power of gentle protest.
In 2019, Heritage Open Days will celebrate its anniversary with 25 Years of People Power. Against a backdrop of Brexit - a time of unprecedented social division and uncertainty - hundreds of events across the country will celebrate change-makers; those whose visions and dreams have brought positive developments to our society, both large and small.
Alongside festival walks, talks and openings, the Dare to Dream project will explore the power of positive visualisation in effecting change and finding solutions to the problems that surround us. Through a series of ‘craftivism workshops’ designed by Sarah Corbett, founder of the global Craftivist Collective, participants will have an opportunity to think about the issues that matter to them, and how to be an active part of bringing positive change, both locally and globally. The commission is the third in Heritage Open Days’ Unsung Stories strand, made possible by support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery with the aim of exploring lesser-known histories in new and innovative ways.
Participants will hand-stitch their positive visions for the future onto fabric ‘dream clouds’, share their creations on social media, and display them in meaningful locations to encourage us all to be solution-seekers and change-makers. “We’re thrilled to be working with Sarah, who embodies the gentle form of People Power that is at the heart of Heritage Open Days,” says HODs National Manager, Annabelle Thorpe.
“Throughout history, real change has come from those who have thought differently, dreamed big and believed solutions are there to be found. Dare to Dream offers a chance for everyone to think about how we can all positively shape the future, and make our dreams for a fairer, happier society become reality.”
Across the Heritage Open Days festival, Sarah will lead four free workshops, launching at
Dartington Hall in Totnes, where the concept for the NHS was established in the 1940s. Moving to Norwich, Manchester and Durham, each session will take inspiration from local dream-makers whose historic ideas helped to shape a new reality. Downloadable instruction packs will also enable organisers to run their own Dare to Dream workshops, enabling nationwide participation. After the festival, insights drawn from the workshops will create a picture of our dreams and hopes for society in the next 25 years.
"By having a vision rather than just fixating on a problem, our brains start finding ways to turn
those visions into reality” says campaigner, Sarah Corbett. “Join us and craft your creation, whilst you think deeply about what your dream for a better world will look like, and how you can be part of making it. Stitch by soothing stitch, we can help become change-makers."
Yesterday’s dreams shaped today’s reality. This September, join Heritage Open Days and the
Craftivist Collective to create individual dreams for a positive future.

protest’ approach to craftivism (craft + activism), and transform the way people practice
activism in more emotionally intelligent, creative and kind and effective ways.

Lunch with Kat at the Chocolate Kiss Cafe
It's not normal for me to go right to VSCO for my editing, but I had visualized this scene to follow something along the lines of what VSCO does. When this couple walked into it wearing great expressions on their faces and with contrasting colored clothing to their surroundings, I knew exactly what I wanted.

I found this on a website with info and pictures of Cory and Catska Ench, both amazing artists.
Brief Historical Background
The right half of this mural depicts the Puget Sound Cooperative Colony around 1889 at the mouth of Ennis Creek. The Cooperative Colony was unique among most early American settlements in the West and played an important role in the development of Port Angeles. Its founders, frustrated with the world as they found it, decided to create their ideal of a utopian society. Culture would be a priority and the Cooperatives property would be owned and operated by all members for the good of all. Advertised nation wide, people came by the hundreds from Seattle and all over the country to join this brave new effort.
They were responsible for building the first opera house in downtown and many of the first Christian churches in Port Angeles. They also built the first school house, steam ship yard and lumber mill in the new town of Port Angeles depicted in this mural. The life of the early settlers was not always what it was cracked up to be and there many unanticipated challenges and hardships.
Some colonists found their utopian society in the wild west more difficult than the life they had left. Unfortunately the Cooperative Colony as an organization did not last more than ten years due to internal conflicts of interest, however many of the people stayed and helped make Port Angeles what it is today. Historical information about the Cooperative Colony used to create this mural was derived from historic literature such as "Port Angeles, WA: A History" by Paul J. Martin and the Clallam County Museum.

Well.. since we have been using the BC (before chirst) AC (after christ) date system all these years, I fugured there must be a day denoted like this! Not sure if this would the day before christ, or the day he was born....
Anyhow, this was actually inspired by an advertisment on a Redbull delivery truck I was stuck behind in traffic. It was as I remember, connoting no fat, no carbs, no sugar.... But it looked like a date to me. How nice... Ok, Please pass the Jagermeister ];)~
