Moby Dick is my favorite American novel, and Melville inspires my landscape and seascape photography! “But as in landlessness alone resides the highest truth, shoreless, indefinite as God - so better is it to perish in that howling infinite, than be ingloriously dashed upon the lee, even if that were safety! I escaped from work on Saturday morning and dashed across to Healey House to try and Catch John Myers four motors on their way to join the Meltham War Weekend parade. I got there with a minute to spare, unfortunately, as on a previous occasion, it was difficult to catch the old motors without modern ones stuck between or behind the slow moving wagons. Having got what I could I drove in to Meltham and wandered around taking photos until the parade at 12.30. I ended up staying until 3.00-still in my filthy work clothes. The original plan was to go home and change but I'd got myself a handy parking place and due to my dodgy ankle not lending itself to walking far I decided to stay put. It was very dull until around 1.00 and then someone switched the sun on and it was a glorious afternoon. It certainly seemed to be very busy, it deserved to be as there was an awful lot going on, obviously a lot of hard work behind it so well done to the organisers. I took around 300 shots and I will upload in batches as I have time, at the time of writing (Fri) they are all edited.

Heading past the Conwy Town Walls on The Quay in Conwy near Lower Gate Street. Was going to the Conwy Bridge and after that the Conwy Suspension Bridge.
The Harbour Master and Lifeboats buildings.
Grade II Listed Building
History
Built in the 2nd half of the C19 and shown on the 1889 Ordnance Survey.
Exterior
A 2-storey quayside building of pebble-dashed walls and slate roof with skylight. Entrances to both storeys are in the L side wall facing Porth Bach. The lower storey has a boarded door on the L side, to the L of which are stone steps to a 1st-floor boarded door. The upper storey also has a 2-light small-pane casement window. The gable end facing the quay has, in the lower storey, a shallow canted oriel window with fixed small-pane window and casements in the outer facets. In the upper storey is a canted oriel with 4-pane sash window.
A later coped stone wall is attached to the R side of the gable end. The rear is built against the town wall.
Interior

I was viewing the shots I had taken of this old abandoned building when these two kids dashed towards me from the other side of the street and started straining their necks to see the pictures for themselves. I was so amused with them (and their very colorful Metro Aide-inspired getups) that after the viewing session I asked them to pose for me. They willingly obliged. To my surprise the kids did not ask for "pamasko" (it was 3 days after Christmas, Feast of the Innocents) from me, as all other streetkids do. So naturally I emptied the pocket where I keep my coins and handed all its contents to them as "pamasko". They then bid me goodbye and promptly crossed the street back to where they were playing before our photo session, eleven pesos richer. I think everyone came off that chance meeting quite happy.

This morning I dashed out of the house running late for work and 1/2 way to the station I realized I forgot my tie. There was no time to turn around or I'd be truly late. The solution? Konbini.
At ampm they had a simple black tie, but I thought 1000 yen was too much. I stared chance in the face, denied her, and she kicked me in the ass as I walked by. I popped out of the train @ Umeda and checked all the local konbinis. Finally at the Heart-in I found a shirt and tie combo for more than the original black tie. The shirt was obviously too small for me, but I needed the tie. Shiny, ugly, and clashing with my already questionable shirt, I had no choice but to buy it and wear it all day. I think there will be a ritual burning tonight.
But it's not all bad: my student this morning happened to be the right size for the shirt that came with it, so I gave it to him, which seems to be a better use than tearing it up to use as bicycle rags.
