This is the dashboard of my husband's 1961 Volkswagen Beetle, with the sun pouring in through the glass. This is also one of Julian's favorite places to be, which may explain why he looks so serene.
After Julian made this comment a moment ago -- "Have you ever noticed that most sad things are pretty?" -- maybe I should change the title of this to "Dashboard Confessional Halo." ;-)

I'm in two minds whether this is a Wolesley 1500 as the hub caps were Austin and this is Australia after all where cars were re-badged. This all looks rather austere for a Wolseley

the dashboard all painted grey. this shows the carpet removed before doing the sound deadening. and before installing the new dash board gauge cluster. you can see the old color and the new on the side panel in the foreground. the inside of the panel is still the original brown but the outside is the new grey.
