The Blue Dart Fish are stunning. Built for speed, they dart about the place like they have 10 hours of work to do, and 5 hours to do it.
Blue Dartfish are tiny and a full grown adult might only be 20cms, and they are always found in pairs.
They are not an obvious choice for photographers as when spooked or unhappy, they run for cover of the reef. You need to sit quietly and wait for them to reemerge for a half decent photo.
This pic was shot years ago with an "Agfa Ephoto 1280" - My first digital camera with 0,7 Mpix effective pixels (with the on-camera extrapolation, it could even be called a megapixel camera...)
It was a simple camera, but I found it great for learning.

Dennis Dart Plaxton Pointer L118 YOD was a brief member of the Mortons Travel fleet. It was new to Plymouth but carried Xelabus colours whilst with Mortons. On 22nd September, 2014, I had it allocated to me for an afternoon run from Roberts May school in Odiham. A breakdown would mean that this would be its final day in service.

On Monday 6th January 2014, the 'Dartford Circular' route 453 operated by Go-Coach was replaced by two new routes, Dart 1 runs clockwise around Tree Estate and West Dartford whilst Dart 2 runs anti-clockwise around Temple Hill Estate. Where as before the hourly route 453 required a single vehicle the new routes, operating at a increased 30 minute frequency requires two and V305 MDP and YT51 EAC previously out shopped in purple have now acquired appropriate route branding.
Seen on the day after the routes official unveiling by the Mayor of Dartford, an extremely clean Go-Coach YT51 EAC is seen on Maple Road, Tree Estate whilst working Dart 1. Friday 10th January 2014.

I was chasing this Darter about for ages, everytime he saw me coming for him with the lens he flew off, I'm surprised It turned out so well.
As I'm going to Hilton Gravel Pits NR on the 27th Oct. Fungi hunting, I thought I'd post a couple of Ruddy Darter photo's taken 6th Sept. on my last visit.
The darter is a large bird that can spear its prey with it's bill. It hunts fish and other aquatic prey in dams, rivers and any other water area that can support its diving characteristics.

The darters, anhingas, or snakebirds are mainly tropical waterbirds in the family Anhingidae, which contains a single genus, Anhinga. There are four living species, three of which are very common and widespread while the fourth is rarer and classified as near-threatened by the IUCN. The term snakebird is usually used without any additions to signify whichever of the completely allopatric species occurs in any one region. It refers to their long thin neck, which has a snake-like appearance when they swim with their bodies submerged, or when mated pairs twist it during their bonding displays. "Darter" is used with a geographical term when referring to particular species. It alludes to their manner of procuring food, as they impale fishes with their thin, pointed beak. The American darter (A. anhinga) is more commonly known as the anhinga. It is sometimes called "water turkey" in the southern United States; though the anhinga is quite unrelated to the wild turkey, they are both large, blackish birds with long tails that are sometimes hunted for food
The dear old thing she's dead and may be never be seen again. My favourite bus in all Edinburgh and this was a really nice discovery to find way at the back of the normal service buses, out of the way of anyone within Central depot. What a moment!
Dennis Dart SLF / Plaxton Pointer SPD number 188 (Y188 CFS) and renumbered 53 sits lonely and abandoned with notices saying 'Do no Enter / Do not remove parts'.
Get There Greener Darts numbers 54 to 59 operate on Service 36 and 188 (53) seemed like the grand uncle of the group - I still look closely when the others come along thinking and hoping it might just be this one.

With the Covid lockdown last year, VU02 TTJ went into store at the Farnham Coaches yard.
It was was released back into service ready for March 8th, when the return of the schools prompted the return of peak hour extras from the Railway station to the RSCH.
I think I'm right in saying these had run for a while before the change from a 20 minute to 15 minute frequency on the 4/5 route.
With the dramatic fall in passengers since Covid, the 4/5 are back to the 20 minute service, hence the extras returning to try and prevent crowding at these times.
And I'm sure giving passengers the chance to avoid the Arriva "A" might come in to it too!
Seen here at the Cathedral roundabout on the first journey out to the RSCH, as the shadows lengthen.
The daffodil fields vary in performance again this year, one half hardly blooming.
And the recently planted saplings are obvious, so this vantage point will soon be much poorer.
With the imminent arrival of Lothian's new Volvo 7900 Hybrid single deckers the end is approaching for our 40 remaining Dennis Darts. These vehicles have been fantastic work machines and have served the company well over the past 14 years, initially operating on Lothian's flagship service 22.
Dennis Dart SLF, Plaxton Pointer SPD number 66 (SK52 OJL) is seen on a sunny afternoon in Princes Street on Service 12 with a branded Eclipse on the opposite side at British Home Stores.
LB has a growing number of events throughout the year, notably an annual Doors Open Day which is usually held in September.
This free event welcomes the public to see inside Central depot in Annandale Street. It's a fun day out and everyone can experience the opportunity to find out more about LB's fleet and general operations.
Passengers who would like the chance to speak directly to staff and air their opinions on bus travel in Edinburgh can join in one of the regular Bus Users' Surgeries, held at different times throughout the year.
