On a split decision to find somewhere for tea! we headed onto the M56 to the Wirral, Merseyside. I had recently seen a picture of New Brighton lighthouse and thought it would make a good picture and wanted to try. I have not been to New Brighton since I was a child and when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was, the beach is beautiful and the area has been completely renewed!

Streams of rain were visible falling from the dark clouds as I looked towards Ben Nevis and the Grampian mountains from the Commando Monument in Spean Bridge, Scottish Highlands. The munro Ben Nevis, at 4411 feet, is the highest mountain in the United Kingdom. The drama of the scene was increased by converting it to black and white.

While the setting Sun and ominous sky it out...darkness is inevitable. Yet, this is the most breathtaking moment...isnt it ? The "light" will lose this battle... but memories ?

This was my first opportunity to catch this frivolous night of electrical delights! (I've caught many more in 2023)
Yeah, I've caught some lightning earlier in 2023, but I actually dedicate time specifically for lighting. This was one of those nights. In fact the first one of 2023.

3nd Chase of 2017...
Most of you know that follow me on Flickr & Social Media... that I love good opportunities to capture lightning. It was one of the reasons why I took up storm photography 20+ years ago. I didn't have many opportunities in 2016 to capture lightning...
This year it started off with a Bang. I couldn't have asked for a better situation. Disappointed of that afternoons chase... I was redeemed by the storms ample cloud to cloud and cloud to ground lightning strikes. An epic night of storm photography!

its been a while since I posted an image of my favourite castle so here is a shot of a sunset with one of the most dramatically colourful skies I think I've seen.
On the quiet morning of February 7, 2005, a lonely crossbuck guards an infrequently used, snow-covered grade crossing on the Nevada Northern Railway at East Ely, Nevada.
A contrasting scene on top of Beinn Bhan in Lochaber as a very dark cloud looms. The Nevis range of hills in the background.
The town of Licola in Victoria, Australia is not far away, and early morning low cloud is following the valley of the Wellinton River.
Dark clouds over the MIT Sailing Pavilion. I have a whole long list of places in the Boston area to check out, often based on seeing Instagram photos taken there. I've seen a lot taken at the MIT sailing pavilion, and with the crazy clouds last night, I decided to bike over. I like this dark and stormy look, but I also want to go back at a slightly earlier time in the afternoon to try shooting the boats with better lighting - maybe today if the clouds look good this afternoon.
Dark clouds came as a breather over Beas village while I was heading for the holy city of Amritsar. Just beyond those trees, the Beas river irrigates the fertile land of Punjab.Clouds and the sun played a nice game and I had a fun time snapping :-)

A striking portrait of life during the monsoon season in rural Bangladesh. In IMG, a massive, brooding canopy of dark storm clouds hangs heavy over vast aquaculture ponds. A narrow, green earthen embankment cuts through the water, serving as a vital pathway where three small figures—one carrying a bright red umbrella—make their way forward. The contrast between the expansive, moody sky and the resilient daily routine unfolding below beautifully captures the spirit of Gram Bangla.

South Central Nebraska, early May 2012. No chasing this day due to work late. Afternoon Storms were predicted that afternoon & evening. Slow movers they were to be.
Off work & I was in luck. The dryline had stalled right over south central Nebraska that afternoon & the explosion of billowing thunderheads erupted. Billowing picturesque Thunderheads. Some of the most photogenic cells I caught in 2012.
Wicked Photogenic Severe Storms developing just to my east and & another batch of developing severe storms right over my head & moving the northeast. What a afternoon of Light & Severe Storms... Click Click Click!!!!

a moment after the storm, when nature holds its breath. to the left, the dark clouds still loom, heavy with remnants of rain, while to the right, the sky begins to open up, letting in the light once more. this view captures the unique atmosphere of portixol, a vibrant district of palma de mallorca that has transformed from a quaint fishing village to a sought-after neighborhood, now famed for its stylish restaurants, trendy bars, and some of the highest real estate prices in europe. yet, even amidst this evolution, the bay remains a place of calm, a testament to the balance between the old and the new.

Happy that our storm season has started. There are others like myself that waiting, planning, wanting the smell of the rain, to feel the wind blowing against your face, and just the welcoming of spring to plains of Nebraska. I truly wasn't disappointed.
Shortly after 5:30pm the dry line started to fire and we got of first visible towers building just to north and west of our location.
