I came out of the market store to find that the sky had morphed into this vision. Don't know if I've ever quite seen a sky like this. The entire sky was filled with clouds radiating out...."clouds rays" instead of sun rays. I had to scramble to get the camera as the light was waning quickly. I wasn't in the best position for getting prime angles on the sky, but it was either shoot or miss it entirely.

Totally stormy day on the beach. The lifeguards cleared the beach soon after I took this over concerns of impending lightning and thunder.
I took the three photos on my way down to my local IGA store it looked pretty nasty. Thank goodnes I got back home in time before the heavens opened up The storm lasted two hours on and off with heavy rain and small hail. The Video I filmed was done 5 mins after I got back home talk about timing!

The NATS radar station on the summit of Great Dun Fell, in a patch of watery sunshine and a dusting of snow, as seen from the B6277 road at Ashgill Head. This is the 2nd highest peak in the Pennines (848 m, 2782 ft), the Pennine Way long distance footpth crosses it.

It was my last hurrah for 2017.
Hwy 183 Northbound..
It took some time, and I didn't waste any to get back into position.
The winds were ferocious. I couldn't keep a steady shot. I jimmy rigged it and finally got it steady enough in the wind to get these final shots of the year.
It was worth my time and effort this day. Some of my best to end the 2017 Storm Chasing Season.

Two things that seem to be in abundance this summer are poppies and rain clouds.
Half an hour or so after this was taken it was blue skies and sunshine but I tihnk I prefer the bad weather shots.
Very busy at the moment with work and home decorating, and the weather has been poor. So it's been great to get out for a short while with the camera. I had to post something, anything! Apologies for not keeping up to date with you all, i'll do my best to see what i've been missing.

A heavy thundery downpour approaches Hutton Magna from the south west.
A sunset at the Besant Nagar beach. It was a hot summer day. This big dark cloud raised at 6.10pm promising us a cool time. Yes, we did get some showers in the night.
Light and shadow move across the mountains of Torridon. From left to right, the cloud covered Sgurr Dubh (one of the lower peaks of Slioch), Beinn a' Mhùinidh and Meallan Ghobhar. Viewed from near to Kinlochewe.

Camera in hand... Pointing due south from Kearney Nebraska... A surreal view of some amazing mammatus clouds. Strong Cells bordering the Nebraska Kansas Border, moving northeast into south central Nebraska.

That was one very stormy sky, other than some hail it mostly missed me!! You can see the hail coming down, there was a very faint second rainbow.

Dark clouds over Lake Mapham Yutso (Manasarovar) and the Mt Nemo Nanyi (Gurla Mandhata). It was the best weather ever! always somthing to see.
Fall
The fall season is a great time of year to visit Tibet. The rainy season normally ends in mid to late September. The skies from then through early December are generally clear and the mountains are usually snow-capped. The temperatures are not as mild as the summer, but are still comfortable for most people. There will be freezing temperatures in most areas of Tibet, but with appropriate clothing, you will be fine. The tourists crowds have usually departed from Lhasa by mid-October making the Tibetan quarter much quieter. Also, nomad Tibetans can still be found living in tents across the grasslands. Overall, the fall is probably my favorite time of year for traveling across Tibet.

On Jan. 18, 2017, U.S. President Barack Obama ended his last press conference by telling the media, “Good luck.” With Donald Trump taking over, many believe the U.S. and the world will need all the luck we can get.
I took the photo several years ago of an approaching storm over the Washington Monument and other landmarks in Washington, D.C. I was standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial overlooking a reflecting pond when I took it. It was early morning and the light was just right. Not long after, the storm came.
I added a message made famous by broadcaster Edward R. Murrow, who helped end the reign of the McCarthy witch hunts in the 1950s. At the end of most broadcasts, he would say, “Good night, and good luck.”
A film done by George Clooney told of his life. I have a copyright on the photo but want it to be a shared attribution arrangement. So feel free to share but not use commercially. May the spirit of Edward R. Murrow help us in the coming years…
