That was one very stormy sky, other than some hail it mostly missed me!! You can see the hail coming down, there was a very faint second rainbow.

A fleeting patch of sunlight creates a good display of vivid red field poppies against a background of dark clouds.

The concept is to depict a spirited warrior leading the charge in this fantasy land with fighters from across historic times. The fighters are a mix of Indian, Middle Eastern, Persian and Medieval warriors from different times. The original canvas is the fantasy land and the giant bats. Dark clouds over Lake Mapham Yutso (Manasarovar) and the Mt Nemo Nanyi (Gurla Mandhata). It was the best weather ever! always somthing to see.
Fall
The fall season is a great time of year to visit Tibet. The rainy season normally ends in mid to late September. The skies from then through early December are generally clear and the mountains are usually snow-capped. The temperatures are not as mild as the summer, but are still comfortable for most people. There will be freezing temperatures in most areas of Tibet, but with appropriate clothing, you will be fine. The tourists crowds have usually departed from Lhasa by mid-October making the Tibetan quarter much quieter. Also, nomad Tibetans can still be found living in tents across the grasslands. Overall, the fall is probably my favorite time of year for traveling across Tibet.

On Jan. 18, 2017, U.S. President Barack Obama ended his last press conference by telling the media, “Good luck.” With Donald Trump taking over, many believe the U.S. and the world will need all the luck we can get.
I took the photo several years ago of an approaching storm over the Washington Monument and other landmarks in Washington, D.C. I was standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial overlooking a reflecting pond when I took it. It was early morning and the light was just right. Not long after, the storm came.
I added a message made famous by broadcaster Edward R. Murrow, who helped end the reign of the McCarthy witch hunts in the 1950s. At the end of most broadcasts, he would say, “Good night, and good luck.”
A film done by George Clooney told of his life. I have a copyright on the photo but want it to be a shared attribution arrangement. So feel free to share but not use commercially. May the spirit of Edward R. Murrow help us in the coming years…

Bright yellow buttercup meadows cover the landscape.
On September 23, 2013, an eastbound Canadian Pacific unit grain train curves past some autumn color along the Bow River at Castle Mountain, Alberta. Snow is beginning to fly in the high mountains to the west signaling another change in seasons.
As with most of the new photos of the neighborhood where I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, I've known the people there for decades, including this woman. The dark clouds and distant thunderstorms over in Long Island made for some awesome photography from the Connecticut side yesterday! (and we didn't even get a drop or rain)

Coming back from a conference...in Scottsbluff, I just knew that storms would develop in South Central Nebraska. We couldn't drive fast enough ... best time is 4 1/2 hours and that's with no problems.
Even though I missed our first chasing opportunity of 2010, I enured, with the sun just setting and we were on the back side of the storms that were dying and then redeveloping at the time of these captures. These low level moisture clouds that were feeding the storm.
The perfecting lighting, right @ sunset... I couldn't resist to get a few snaps, and they turned out absolutely fantastic.

This just goes to show you don't know what people might like. This was a shot I'd thrown away in March, but I tweaked it a bit and its the most popular thing I've posted for ages that doesn't involve sticking a record cover on my head.
I hate severe weather. I don't mind a good thunderstorm, but when tornadoes are involved, I pretty much freak out. It was a tense couple hours, but luckily nothing bad happened near my house.

I Seriously, wasn't going to go out this night... Had a weeks worth of hell, and I really just wanted to do was get off work and go home. I was tired, I was cranky, it was the first weekend I've had off in a Month...
As soon as I pulled into the driveway @home, I could hear the weather radio going off and my storm capturing sensation came over me. Listening to the bullitins coming over the radio and I Freaked!. The storms were closer than I had thought. NWS just put warnings for Northern Buffalo County for super fast development of strong to potentially super severe, with large hail, and possible Tornadoes.
Photography Chance of a lifetime... Even though someone could cast me as a member of the Walking Dead....I was a trooper and I didn't wimp out! Luckily I had the my camera on the charger... Grabbed all my equipment & I hauled A** North... 20 mins later I found myself in the perfect spot, under the perfect conditions!
Cresting over northern Buffalo County, ready to cross between Pleasanton & Ravenna Nebraska, this cell was rapidly building and already had tornado warning on it. Incredible CG lightning in front of the storm cell was just to good to capture, with lighting firing off every few seconds.

Sun was finally peaking out... clouds were clearing. Giving us this just Jaw Dropping Nebraska Thunderset... (Thunderstorm @ Sunset)
This supercell storm was cresting to the northeast & the ambient sunset light was giving us that Nebraska Magic. Just the perfect conditions to end this day. The final shots of light & storm were dynamically beautiful.

This is the Milky Way of the autumn season in the Northern Hemisphere, on a late September night, from the very dark site of Red Rock Canyon, in Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada. The scene is a crop from the full 360° rectangular panorama, taken about 11:00 pm. Illumination is solely by starlight. Being autumn, the larches and aspens are in autumn colours. Snow is on Mount Blakiston at left, while the sharp peak at centre is Anderson Peak.
The galactic centre is toward the southwest at left of centre, though Sagittarius itself had set by the time I shot this panorama. The bright star cloud of Scutum is above the mountains. The Milky Way stretches up through Aquila, through the Summer Triangle stars, and across the top as the Milky Way was then passing through the zenith.
At right, the sky is red from airglow and a dim aurora. At left is the dim glow of the Gegenschein.
My other camera is in the scene, shooting a time-lapse of the Milky Way motion.
This is a multi-tier panorama, with the full 360° panorama consisting of 48 segments (!), in 4 tiers of 12 segments each, taken with the iPano motorized panning unit. Each exposure was 30 seconds at f/2 with the 24mm lens and Canon 6D at ISO 6400. Stitching was with PTGui, which did it flawlessly. The original of this image is 12,800 x 5,600 pixels.

This is PART 1
Little did I know that this was going to be the last thunderheads of the season I would see. Traveling west via i-80 to get to the developing cells west southwest of North Platte Nebraska.
This was the first cells of the day that went severe but I wasn't going to chase those cells to the north. More were developing to west. Had to get west to get to the dryline and wait for the action to begin.
