Not much news coverage here in the U.S. regarding this story. I wonder how Hemel Hempstead is doing.

It was one of the most awesome natural shows on display yesterday afternoon!! Witnessed a spectacular buildup of clouds before the storm came!! They say a picture is worth a thousand words but am not sure if these series of images can convey the spectacle that was on in the Dhamrai sky before the storm came after a few days of continuous sweltering heat and humidity!!

Storm forming over Mammoth Hot Springs. Pelted with quarter size hail as we walked, or should I say ran, away from this shot. So worth it.

We had a early Moderate Risk just about 100 miles to my south of Kearney Nebraska. Meaning... My back yard. It was the first set of storm cells in South Central Nebraska & North Central Kansas.

Just to the northeast of Beaver City Nebraska I encountered a nice photogenic storm cell that had just went to a severe warned status. I paused a few mins to get my bearings a caught a few snaps!

A Kewl HD Video to Boot! Some good footage of rotation on the furthermost point south of the storm. On the South side of Phillipsburg Kansas. Its to big to put on Flickr ...Link on over to my YouTube Channel to view the Video youtu.be/3K8Av9Q00L0

A wicked bad day of severe weather in South Central Nebraska. For more information on that day... NWS Official Report.

A tornadic supercell with an Ef1 or Ef2 tornado struck the city of Kearney late afternoon. The aftermath wasn't pretty. I sure wanted to be out chasing but I was scheduled for work, and missed the entire historic event.

Power was out, but I did have the camera batteries charged. Geared up, with camera in hand after I got home from work. I took a few minutes during clean up that night to capture these incredible cloudscapes that were on the back side of the storms.

These were the final rays, the last light of the day. These clouds were truly some spectacular stormscape captures to end that day of severe weather!

The usual suspects - CN bongas and a long bomb train, naturally without a buffer car as CN seems to do a lot here, though at least a KCSM motor has come along for the ride. Storms brew overhead while the train rockets down the bumpy tracks of the old IC main. The track condition, not to mention the odd assortment of switches around Tolono, are a good reminder of the rumoured double-track project from Tolono to Gilman. Supposedly the state has been sponsoring it from 2019, but there's certainly not tons to show for it yet, if true. It'll certainly make things easier in the area, but it's a sore reminder of the early 90s when the IC more or less pioneered PSR and stripped their operations back so much - including the tracks.

A Photographic Beast....

I wasn't chasing this day. Truck was in the shop, and I was at my son's baseball game. Though we did have the perfect view north, while the game was in play.

June is go time when it come to severe weather here in Nebraska. Heat temps were in the upper 90s and we had all the right ingredients for some nasty weather to form. We had just the right amount of shear helped produced this tornadic storm cell that day.

At the time of these captures, this storm cell was in peak mature stage. Just 20 miles north and east of Kearney Nebraska, the areas between Ravenna, and Gibbon. Golf ball sized hail and torrential rainfall, with a Tornado warning boot.

May 4th, 2012 - Northern Buffalo County Nebraska US

I Seriously, wasn't going to go out this night... Had a weeks worth of hell, and I really just wanted to do was get off work and go home. I was tired, I was cranky, it was the first weekend I've had off in a Month...

As soon as I pulled into the driveway @home, I could hear the weather radio going off and my storm capturing sensation came over me. Listening to the bullitins coming over the radio and I Freaked!. The storms were closer than I had thought. NWS just put warnings for Northern Buffalo County for super fast development of strong to potentially super severe, with large hail, and possible Tornadoes.

Photography Chance of a lifetime... Even though someone could cast me as a member of the Walking Dead....I was a trooper and I didn't wimp out! Luckily I had the my camera on the charger... Grabbed all my equipment & I hauled A** North... 20 mins later I found myself in the perfect spot, under the perfect conditions!

Cresting over northern Buffalo County, ready to cross between Pleasanton & Ravenna Nebraska, this cell was rapidly building and already had tornado warning on it. Incredible CG lightning in front of the storm cell was just to good to capture, with lighting firing off every few seconds.
