Taken the other day when we had a bit of sun, but great moody clouds too.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

Some spectacularly dramatic lighting conditions on the upper dale as seen from Bail Hill above Mickleton, on New Year's Eve 2025. The foreground in shadow is the bottom end of Lunedale. Illuminated in the middle distance (L>R) are part of Holwick and East and West Force Garth farms a little further back, Forest in Teesdale further away and Ettersgill to the right.

This was taken about 4 pm this afternoon. It had been storming off & on all afternoon. This is looking southwest from the 6th floor of the building I work in.

These clouds had the most amazing hues of blue and other colors last night - not quite this dark, but intentionally underexposing brought out the colors more. SOOC. Please view large!

A rapidly changing formation of clouds sweeps over the Wachusett Reservoir from the northwest adding some drama to the December sky.

Prints and Canvasses Available

A slice of Upper Teesdale in dramatic light between heavy squalls as seen from Stable Edge. In the spotlight from left to right are Hield House farm, Force Garth quarry a little further away with East and West Force Garth Farms to the right of it, and most of Ettersgill at the right of the picture. The next set of heavy squalls are advancing and starting to obscure Cronkley Scar in the distance.

Right on time... Nice billowing thunderheads forming early afternoon. Nice structure on these storm cells forming just to the east of Epcot that afternoon!

A little watery sunshine highlighting this mature sycamore on the roadside at South Thorpe. A sinister looking sky promises heavy rain on the way. Promise kept!

A Barnard Castle roofscape in winter sunshine. Taken from The Lendings, strong January sun lights up the stone buildings and the tower of St Mary''s parish church standing out against a dark sky.

Dramatic lighting as a hefty wintry shower approaches with a flowering cherry tree standing out against a very dark sky. Hutton Hall farm, Hutton Magna

This beautiful scene was captured long ago. This photo captured before raining. This scene always pleasure me.

The briefest of patches of sunshine lights up these roadside daffodils by Gillett Farm at Forest in Teesdale under a stormy looking sky. Taken on a very windy morning as the remnants of Storm Kathleen pass through.

Dramatic light on Middleton in Teesdale as a hole in the low cloud cover allows strong sunshine though. A quick snapshot from Whistle Crag taken on a relatively low-spec pocket camera (Canon A720 IS) which is all I had with me on this occasion. Nevertheless, when confronted with this view as I drove up the dale, I had to pull over and take a shot of it. Not bad for an elderly 8mp pocket camera which only takes jpg files!

A wicked bad day of severe weather in South Central Nebraska. For more information on that day... NWS Official Report.

A tornadic supercell with an Ef1 or Ef2 tornado struck the city of Kearney late afternoon. The aftermath wasn't pretty. I sure wanted to be out chasing but I was scheduled for work, and missed the entire historic event.

Power was out, but I did have the camera batteries charged. Geared up, with camera in hand after I got home from work. I took a few minutes during clean up that night to capture these incredible cloudscapes that were on the back side of the storms.

These were the final rays, the last light of the day. These clouds were truly some spectacular stormscape captures to end that day of severe weather!
