.....and beneath the sun all color fades to the bright light energy that spins every living and man-made thing into existence.....
Early morning light through the trees along the access road to Four Tree Island provided a perfect solution for the "Dappled Light" challenge!
ANSH105: 13. Dappled Light
An exterior door on Salvin's masterpiece, alongside the River Mersey. We'd parked up next to the churchyard wall, ate our sarnies inside, out of the wind. I noticed that people were starting to leave this superb church, it being a Sunday, so I suggested we ask to see the interior before it was locked. Once we started taking pics in the churchyard, the Vicar hailed us and invited us in! :-)
Behind the chalet is a beautiful forest..here new Pines grow amongst the beautiful lichens and mosses
I had a headache but determined to enjoy the beautiful day and make something for lunch
My time seems squashed, so many images unsorted so much reading and work for MA. At the moment I drink tea, look at flickr & read Derrida...
A look back into woodland of the Longshaw estate as we walk along the perimeter of the wood, back to the Fox House Inn and the bus stop home.

Taken on a circular day walk from Nymphsfield via Coaley Peak, Ham, Coaley, Pointed & Cam Long Down, Uley & Uley Bury.
This shot was taken through a small copse at the western end of Cam Long Down.
Right place, right time for this one!
Also known as chestnut husks. ;)
Yesterday we went on a trip to Mount Irvine to pick chestnuts. This was a scene that greeted us on the short walk up from the road before reaching the actual orchard.
I love the dappled light of autumn afternoons, it makes for the most beautul use of light and shade, even on very ordinary things
I am still working my way through alternate images from my self-portrait shoots at Hospitalfield for my interior / exterior book, and I quite like this one from my 'left behind' shoot, where I fought the stinging nettles, and the stinging nettles won.
However, I was halfway through editing it before I realised I am quite clearly holding my remote in my left hand. D'oh!
So instead, you get to enjoy this little teaser outtake.
Happy to spot one of the nuthatches again this evening, when I went for a walk with Tim (after he finished work). I was just pointing out to him the various holes in the tree where I've seen various wildlife (parakeets, squirrels, nuthatches), and this little lovely turned up on cue. I saw a tiny little head poking out of the hole when we came back home, too - only fleeting, but cute!
Had a nice catch-up on the phone with my Mum today. She had her friend Sally visiting yesterday, so I heard all about that. So pleased to know she's been out and about and having a lovely time :) She was pleased to hear I'm going to stay for four nights when I go to take her for a hospital appointment soon, too :)
... in our bedroom. Everything is everywhere at the moment - our dishwasher is in the living room, the microwave's in the dining room, the living room chairs are in our bedroom - as is the flat-packed new corner unit for the kitchen. There was some nice light in there this afternoon, too.
Another full day of DIY - mostly painting again! I did a second coat on the kitchen walls, until I could paint no more, and Tim did the last few bits for me. Had some late lunch and a bit of a rest, then touched up all the bits where I'd smudged paint on the coving (or the skirting board as I kept calling it in my paint-addled state). We did a last load of washing this morning, then disconnected the washing machine and dishwasher - moved the dishwasher into the living room and left the washing machine ready for collection (new one being delivered tomorrow).
I use outbuilding loosely here. All the utilitarian buildings for cooking, baking, the pantry, wine cellar, etc. were all accesible to the main house without going outside. Thomas Jefferson planned it that way.

I saw this ridge in fog for the first time today. After driving my wife to work, I went home, grab my camera and tripod then heads up to this ridge. It was about 15 minutes hike from where I parked my car at the bottom of the hills. The hike was awesome and I brought home with me lots of "magical moment" photos.
