This is not a particularly unique bird, but I like this because it had an almost ominous feel to it!
Here is a pic i took of Trev whilst on one of our woodland dog walks. In hand is his camera .... as always!
... discovered that one of our pine trees has taken on the (slightly startled) appearance of a LOTR ent!
Redwall Limestone is the red-orange cliff just below center. It's vertical in most parts of the Grand Canyon, and often includes huge amphitheatres like that at the right. It's hard to fathom from this view, but the Redwall is roughly 500 feet high!
Taken from Nankoweap Creek, on our way back to camp, the one layover day on our trip. Nice not to have to break down and set up camp for once! The Colorado River, an olive green here, is barely visible at the bottom center. This view shows all the layers above Redwall that are also familiar in the center of the park. The yellowish formations at left and right are on the flanks of Nankoweak Creek, and are an unusually steep section of Bright Angel Shale, which is a broad, rolling platform at the park center. The Redwall is naturally a greenish-gray, but is stained red by iron oxides washing down from the Supai formation above. The true color can be seen in the light-colored places where runoff from above can no longer stain it, but the rock still erodes.
Another shot from our Sunday excursion to visit the little copse of red maples at entrance to Stella Maris. Couldn't resist these little "helicopters." The promise of "trees to be."
Worth a look in light box (hit "L"). :)
and a looking glass wall.
A window and wall captured earlier this year in the upstairs ladies room in Mitchell Hall.
This room had lovely light partly due to the mirror wall behind the window which sent little dappled light across the little room's walls and ceiling. Was kinda sorta like being in a kaleidoscope.
Captured with iPhone with very little editing on the iPad in Snapseed. Just a slight rotation, a tiny bit of contrast to the clouds and a frame.
The dramatic light continued for the rest of the day and I was largely focused on scouting out locations rather than doing much photography.
This, I couldn't pass up however. The light was really working it's magic on Grindslow Knoll, I got my foreground exposures taken (I always focus stack) and took a dozen or so shots of the background as the shape of the dappled highlights was in constant motion. I picked this one as my favourite. On another note, it really is that insanely green out on the Peak at the moment!
Spotted Flycatcher / muscicapa striata. 07/06/18.
'LOOKING SKYWARDS'.
On a wild and very blustery autumnal day, it's nice to look back at this image of calmer times! BEST VIEWED LARGE.
The Spotted Flycatcher sat on one of its favoured perches looking skywards. There were no shortage of flying insects for it to take.
From our most recent hiking adventure. I love this trail--it was a bit of a drive to get to, but it was an easy drive, and I'll definitely be going back :)

Dartmoor, Devon

For today's image I thought I'd post one from last Autumn showing the dappled light through twisted oak trees on Dartmoor. I thought the warm dappled light harmonized with the orange and rust coloured leaf fall, and the cool rushing water complimented these tones.
Cave Dale Hike Pt.4:
Having admired Mam Tor from below, I set to climbing the steep route up the southern edge of the collapsed section of the hill. This route provided an amazing up-close view of the geology of the hill and a stunning vista across Windy Knoll and towards Eldon Hill.
The weather had turned overcast and for the preceding hour it looked like the light was going to remain flat, the cloud eventually broke in dramatic fashion spilling dappled golden hour light across the land below. A hectic set-up ensued and I was lucky enough to pretty much have a ready-made composition in front of me; with nice lines coming in from the right and a few layers within the landscape to add some depth.
A winding road curves gently through a lush forest, framed by the warm glow of late afternoon sunlight. The trees arch above, casting shadows that dance across the pavement. Billboards and rustic wooden structures peek out along the path, adding a touch of human presence to the otherwise serene natural setting. This peaceful scene captures the harmony between man-made paths and the untamed beauty of nature, glowing in hues of gold and green.
I have so many shots waiting.Sorry about my zeal. Please don't bother to comment on each one! Otherwise,I'll feel sorry because I'm taking up too much of your time.Your views are appreciated as well as your kind visits:)

This is one of those times when you're looking through the Hasselblad viewfinder, and it's pretty much the most amazing thing you've ever seen, and you kind of don't ever want it to end.
