Change of mood for today's upload - double exposure in dappled light in a small woodland copse. Experimenting with colour combinations - always enjoyed blue and gold but a little desaturation gives a more subdued and subtle feel. The textures and light of the foreground grasses are what drew my eye.

Much of the Trail of the Cedars Nature Trail follows along Avalanche Creek. The creek was full of roaring energy, following a very snowy winter. It was wonderfully loud & chilly along the trail.
I used to play in these woods as a child, with my friends Ketty, Scott & Lee. Most summer holidays I'd stay there with my grandparents who ran the Partridge Pottery. Returning after so many years brought back a lot of happy memories, and some sad ones; we were there to scatter my Gran's ashes & bring her home.

Been having a bit of a run on sales with this one lately so I thought I'd add it to my Flickr collection to see what you guys thought!

“Walking and talking are two very great pleasures, but it is a mistake to combine them. Our own noise blots out the sounds and silences of the outdoor world; and talking leads almost inevitably to smoking, and then farewell to nature as far as one of our senses is concerned. The only friend to walk with is one who so exactly shares your taste for each mood of the countryside that a glance, a halt, or at most a nudge, is enough to assure us that the pleasure is shared.” ~ C.S. Lewis
The Mill of Kintail near Mississippi Mills (formerly Almonte) is the home of the R. Tait McKenie Museum. Tait McKenzie was a noted artist and sculptor who kept the mill building as a summer residence and studio in the early decades of the 20th century. McKenzie was a childhood friend of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball who grew up nearby and with whom he attended McGill University.
Finally had some time to get out and enjoy a day, so I went somewhere I hadn't gone before. I didn't put the sticks there, but I thought it added to the compo. I thought they could have made the bench a different color though, haha! Everyone have a great week ahead!
About 75% totality. Small patches of light through the tree branches act like pinhole cameras; the crescent was about vertical, hence the orientation of the patterns.

Lisbon’s Avenida da Liberdade (Freedom Avenue or Independence Avenue) must surely be one of Europe’s finest boulevards. It was created in 1879-82 in the style of the Champs-Elysees in Paris, and its tall elegant trees provide welcome shade for walkers, cyclists and people relaxing at café tables or by fountains. Many of the buildings along the way are in the Art Nouveau style (such as this one), which adds an extra delight for the visitor.
The statue here is of Oliveira Martins (1845-94), a politician and social scientist who worked for Portugal’s leading literary, scientific, political and socialist journals. He was considered to be one of the key figures in the contemporary history of Portugal, and his work influenced generations of writers, including today’s.
