its lulu in her natural heartful camoflage, hunting the wild sweet potato bone :)
tonight is the full october moon *
it's fullest brightness is at 20:02 universal time
native americans called october's full moon the hunter's moon or blood moon
because in autumn, when trees have become bare of their protecting leaves.. wild animals, well-fed from summer foraging, were easily seen in the light of the full moon by those who would hunt them
that was then and this is now.
native americans needed to hunt to survive ..
present day americans, except for a relative handful, do not.
in these days leading up to the united states presidential election .. there is a vice presidential candidate who - adding to a phethora of other harming attributes - slaughters animals for sport.. taking her children along to share in her idea of fun... (she actually named her youngest child, just an infant now, "trig" as in "trigger".. )
this candidate shoots wild animals even from the cowardly precipice of a helicopter.. encouraging others to do it too... by offering bounties for forelegs of the noble wolf ...
oestensibly a woman, she desecrates - and advocates the desecration of - our Mother Earth's priceless gifts ... indeed, one of her favorite endangering, gleeful shouts is "drill baby drill!"
another is one that could affect every being on this planet were she and her war-leaning cohort to win this election
it is: "i don't blink"
now, i would not put any energy toward their negativity and shameful dupliciousness were it not for this candidate's dangerous, chilling words,
"i don't blink"..
they foretell how she could adversely, perhaps ultimately adversely, affect every being on this planet.. if elected.
clearly, this election is a spiritual test for each of us here .. and a huge one
~ thank God we have a choice ~
so i decided to post an image for this full october moon as a prayer ~
may the light be obscured for all who would harm their fellow beings
and for those who are good at heart and of good intention
may it light their way home ~~*
amen

A Madagascar Day Gecko rests on the trunk of a palm tree in dappled light at sunset.
They're known as the 'jewels' of Madagascar and you can see why!

Edited on the iPad first in Snapseed then with VSCO with x3 preset as starting point. There was more fiddling with the presets for final black and white image.
I am back and will do my best to catch up on all your images by the weekend.

Having recently sold my Nikon full frame camera and lenses due to arthritical issues in my right thumb and wrist, this is my first take with new Fujifilm X-T20 with 18-55 lens.
The new camera is a fraction of the weight and much easier to use and transport. I like the setup and features too; especially the electronic viewfinder (EVF) I am still getting to grips with the camera and programmes, but results to date are positive; I am really glad that I made the move…

This is a different shot of Wild Horse Butte from the one I posted recently. This one was taken from a drone, and the lighting was different due to the changing "holes" in the cloud layer overhead.
Found this collapsed shed whilst fungi hunting in Redgrave Fen. Light was coming through the trees nicely, but added some flash to boost the shed and localised light
A couple weeks ago I walked over to Durand Eastman Park for my morning reading and prayers. I put the Argus C3 in the daypack. The sun was filtering through the trees most delightfully. I took several photographs around me from where I was sitting as the light changed, and one more straight up.
Last of the set.

Viewing the visitors on one of the countless mesas and buttes, in this area of Canyonlands National Park, it is easy to understand how this part of the park was named Islands in the Sky.
The canyons, mesas and butts were formed by the erosion of the colorful Colorado Plateau by the Colorado and Green Rivers. The park covers more than 300,000 acres and seems much less crowded (at least during the summer when it is hot) than other national parks. Utah Juniper and Pinyon Pines grow throughout the park with evidence of past lives frequently seen. Arches National Park is also located near Moab. The La Sal Mountains are seen in the distance.

12th March 2020:
The sun came back and I didn't want to miss a moment of it. Although while I was out it did start spitting, but not badly.
I only managed the car park and back, but anything was better than having to try and find something inside again.
As I walked out of the main front door I saw a van with this logo on the side, took it from the pavement, but the sun burnt out a lot of the photo, so I crossed over the road and took it from the other side. Getting the lovely dappled effect which I liked and hope you do.

Warm, summer sunshine spills through the broken roof of this abandoned Welsh woollen mill, deep in the woods. A magical place, frozen in time, with the wool still on the spindles and shelves.
A dense climber with slightly scented pale pink flowers and yellow stamens which contrast nicely with dark leaves.

I arrived here in mist and rain, couldn'd see anything of the mountains. Never the less I walked the 2 miles from the carpark to the rescue shelter at the base of the lake. The fog shrouded the mountains and I still couldn't see them. The rain slowly started to ease off and I could begin to see the dark shadow of the mountains through the mist. With the weather forecast in mind I decided to head off up into the cloud to the top and wait it out. On getting to the top I had about a 20 yard visibility. After a couple of sandwiches it started to brighten from above but still no view. As I was rummaging through my bag for a chocolate bar I sensed something had changed behind me. It was the light. The fog had suddenly lifted and started to break. Within about 15 minutes this view was before me. #waitingforthelight.
The morraines left behind by the glacial action that formed this valley can be clearly seen in the centre of the image. These are left by receeding glacier ice flows.

• For We're Here! — "The League of Extraordinary Journalers"
Today is International Day of Happiness. I was personally very happy to find my old journal that i started when i was in school. I used to carry this with me everywhere and jot down ideas for concepts, things i wanted to shoot (either for school or not), inspirations. The particular pages in the image on the right show my notes and "mind map" for a school assignment that ultimately generated one of my favorite images: this photo of Patrick.
Nowadays, i make notes wherever i am in the fantastic and irreplaceable Evernote, but there's something about the physical act of writing/sketching on paper that electronic devices will never replace. Maybe i'll start carrying a notebook again...
Be happy today!!!

The New Forest in Hampshire is my idea of Heaven....everything is abundant and covered in moss and the colours in Autumn lift the soul ;-))
Lush green in the cool morning temperatures were sprinkled with bright flowers just wakening to the sunlight.

This is my favourite time of year when Autumn provides one of natures amazing transformations and if you walk through these woods on a warm sunny day the whole area is filled with that glorious Autumn light and it's one of those experiences that you wish would last for ever. I must have stayed in the woods for at least an hour just absorbing every bit of this magical show and when I left I felt totally refreshed.
