View to the SW from Avalanche Peak, New Zealand. Dappled light on a beautiful day! Tough hike to get here but well worth it. The mountains are rising fast (being on a plate boundary), and are wearing down fast as well! This area drains into the Waimakariri River, an amazing watercourse that is so choked with sediment of all sizes that it can be a mile wide in places and has channels that change their course over time. A classic example of a braided river. In the southern hemisphere, the snow lasts longest on south-facing slopes like that just below.
I can image that the room behind this window is a little open and airy with just half of a window pane left.

Song Thrush / turdus philomelos. Cossington Canal, Nottinghamshire. 18/04/21.
Hard to believe Song Thrushes were everyday visitors to the garden many years ago. Sadly, not anymore as numbers have declined dramatically where I live.
This bird took me by complete surprise last April when it landed close tot the edge of a disused canal. In fact, it was too close to fit in the frame when it perched briefly before flying off to its nest.
This is a grab shot.. After it went I shifted position, hoping to make some better images if it returned. The wait lengthened, the light faded - it never came back.

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away. ~ shing xiong
This is a shot of our male Springer Spaniel Rupert. He was waiting patiently to go through the gate, & i loved the dappled light that was hitting his coat.

Chaffinch / fringilla coelebs. Suffolk. 17/04/16.
Another low level image made one evening at the edge of a wood. There was some nice dappled sunlight that a group of feeding Chaffinch were moving about in.
I experimented with low level captures that isolated individual birds and I aimed to make painterly compositions.
There were noticeably more males present. I assume females were occupied with nesting duties, so it was nice when this one obligingly moved into view!
Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue. ~ Buddha
dappled light on some wild red berries. It might be about the only fall color that happens here this year! :(
Captured with iPhone while camping at Lum's Pond in Sept.
We went through an unusually high humidity period for that time of year on this particular weekend.
After biking upon thin sandy paths along sunny fields of corn and hilly woodlands full of bumpy roots and stone, we came upon this long flat and nicely packed sandy path which lead us though a cool dark blue green shade, dappled with sunlight.
This was a much appreciated respite on our eight-mile biking adventure.

Dappled light was falling onto the track to Serenity Falls in Buderim Forest on the Sunshine Coast. I was the only one there and it was so peaceful - the birds were chirping and I was just enjoying the moment.

Common Kingfisher / alcedo atthis. Private site, Derbyshire. 03/08/15.
An image from last summer, reminding me of time spent with this gorgeous female Kingfisher.
On the day, she kept me waiting for about an hour before putting in an appearance.
I could hear her calling and making splashes when she dived for fish somewhere close by, but out of sight. These sounds kept me optimistically focussed on the perch....it was just a matter of time!
Then suddenly, a flash of electric blue and orange and there she was. What a reward.
(From then on she made frequent visits to the area, each time inducing a rush of adrenalin).

YWP Doncaster South Yorkshire. I have my knotted handkerchief and my deckchair and this looks like a great spot, so i need a volunteer to move the big cat. OK then, i will move it myself. Here pussy pussy.

We visited the nearby town of Aups on Saturday morning to buy fruit n veg at the market and then we dropped Bob off at the groomer at 11.30. To while away the time until she was finished we went for lunch at our favourite restaurant near to where I took this photo
Starting at sunrise in the woods along the Memaloose Hills trail to Chatfield Hill, we were treated to pristine flowers that glowed in the golden hour light.
