One of my favourite bluebells shots taken this weekend at the Blickling Estate. The white flower in the foreground is wild garlic and you could smell the stuff a mile off.

Tough to shoot but something about it I like!

Funeral procession for a fire fighter ~ Mount Kisco, NY

Smoke from the burning of dried leaves in our backyard.

I love the dappled effect in this one.

Eastern part of Yosemite National Park. Mt. Lyell, just left of center, is the highest point in the park at 13,114'. The Lyell Glacier, with dappled shadows, is no longer active and is considered a permanent ice field. Mt MacClure to its right, Rodgers Peak the sharp peak on the left, Helen Lake just below center. Taken from "Granite Divide", a granite peak located on the eastern park boundary, between the metamorphic Mts. Dana and Gibbs. Mono Pass is below and out of sight in the deep cleft on the left. The divide between the reddish metamorphic rock and the granite beyond is about at the far shore of Helen Lake.

Canyonlands National Park

Moab, Utah

This scene is located in the Islands in the Sky section of the park. The people walking on the near by butte provide some sense of size for the photo. Looking at the people, you can indeed get a sense that they are walking on an island.

The canyons, mesas and buttes were formed by the erosion of the colorful Colorado Plateau by the Colorado and Green Rivers. The park covers more than 300,000 acres and seems much less crowded (at least during the summer when it is hot) than other national parks. Arches National Park is also located near Moab. The La Sal Mountains which are part of the Rocky Mountains are seen in the distance.

Wood Duck in a stream among the trees

A cloudy afternoon at Kilchurn castle meant the light was fleeting but glorious when it appeared.

Deep with the Churnet Valley in Staffordshire

A little experiment in shooting dappled light in the 665 nanometer infrared spectrum. City Creek park -- Salt Lake City, Utah.

A pair of weavers have taking a liking to the palm trees in our garden. He's been very busy building the nest and she must have accepted it as being a good home for their little ones as she hasn't cut it from the palm frond it's attached to. They're in and out all day with food for the babes and are remarkably trusting, letting me walk right by them when in the garden.

This litttle wood bridge goes over a boggy muddy area. I posted a picture of this last year, but this was from a closer pov at the start of it. I really like the light and shadow that was going over it and mixed the contrast with sepia and b/w to hopefully give it a more dramatic feel. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Thanks so much everyone, this one just made Explore!

Some trees in South Downs Woods, Stoke Gabriel

My foot in the water at Georgian Bay, Collingwood.

It was the middle of the day and the dappled light penetrated the canopy. There was mama. She told her twins to stay back. Darn.

The Black Mountain West of the Brecons. There are people on the summit Cairn, just visible as a dot on the peak.

... 'like a little candle ...'

This is a photograph I took last summer of sunlight and willow reflections in a stream close to where I live. The scene and the colours made me think of the paintings on Chinese and Japanese fans, so I rounded the corners. in imitation.

Dappled Sunlight On A Wall

Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Battlefield Park, Virginia, Summer 2016.

Same clematis, but shot with my 16mm lens instead of a zoom. The 16mm1.4 has the benefit of a super-close focusing distance, but I had to stick the camera and my hand way into the rose bush to get close enough. The bokeh is nice, and it captured the shadows and dappled light well, but the other two shots were more dramatically lit..-- May 25, 2020

This is my favourite time of year when Autumn provides one of natures amazing transformations and if you walk through these woods on a warm sunny day the whole area is filled with that glorious Autumn light and it's one of those experiences that you wish would last for ever. I must have stayed in the woods for at least an hour just absorbing every bit of this magical show and when I left I felt totally refreshed.

Taken on this morning's cold but bright dogwalk in the local woods.

On a morning walk in the thick and busy forests of CNY, I usually struggle to find something worthy of capturing with a wide angle lens, but the dappled morning light through the canopy never fails to offer wonderful contrast ... even if only for a few moments.

Another cemetery location, this time London Tower Hamlets, one of the Victorian Magnificent Seven graveyards. Unlike Highgate, Kensal Green or Brompton most of Tower Hamlets is in the true grasp of natures reclamation.
