Macro Mondays - damage theme

Note: no wine was harmed in the making of this shot.

A small figurine that suffered damage when I froze it in ice for an earlier Macro Mondays challenge. I tried to glue the tail back on, but was not very successful. For Macro Mondays: Damage and for my POTD.

When I found this earwig it took my attention the color variation (specially in his intense orange pronotum and his dark abdomen and forceps).Although it seems a lie I did not notice the tremendous hole in its final abdomen part when I took the shots.

I suppose that it is a female of Forficula auricularia but I'm not sure ( There are more species of earwigs in the south of Spain than I thought).

"When the Japanese mend broken objects they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold, because they believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful."

I wish there was a way

For me to put this into words

All these feelings that I have

As I start to lose control

I feel panic rushing over me

And gripping at my chest

And no matter what I say or do

I know that that it won't rest

I feel my vision fade

Sweat dripping down my back

I can hear my heart pound

I can feel my mind crack

And I know that you love me

And you want to save me now

In the end of it all

You can't save me from myself

Miniature house with a damaged chimney

I was doing some yard work earlier this year and came across someone's long lost toy car.

Bruised banana for Macro Mondays "damage".

390117 “Blue Peter” was derailed in Shap Cutting by a mud slide while working 1R22, Avanti West Coast’s 0428 Glasgow – Euston on 3 November 2025.

Re-railed and dragged back as 5R22, the unit rests with pan’ up on "A" road, Carlisle on 4 November.

Despite the leading bogie ending up running through the ballast in the "6 foot" it seems to have suffered no major damage and been passed serviceable enough to run, obviously at low speed.

I recently acquired a Turner-Reich Gundlack 12" convertible lens in a Betax shutter, which in fact, I bought mainly for the shutter, so I could mount my other 12" Gundlach lens to make it more usable. The lens that came with the shutter is quite damaged: a wide margin of balsam separation round the edges of BOTH front and rear groups, and one of the center adhesive layers in the front group is a network of separation squiggles and lines. You'd look at this lens and think 'Poor thing, you aren't much use anymore, are you?!"

Well, I decided to mount in in the Betax shutter and see just how compromised it is. This photograph is the result. Yes, the negative has suffered some loss of contrast (light dispersion) and maybe softened a bit, but it was a perfectly usable negative!

Click to zoom way in and see the details.

I used a medium yellow filter, so adjusted to give an extra 2 stops: 1/2 second became 4 seconds (reciprocity) exposure at f11.5, using 8x10 inch Ilford HP5+. Negative developed in Pyrocat HD, 10 minutes standard dilution.

A Willow tree damged by the recent high winds seen at Alkborough nature reserve

Yesterday, during my walk it was nice to see that these great trees had suffered no damage or worse blown down following Storm Eowyn that passed through, recently!

When I walked through Fullerton Woods I could not believe the number of trees that had been blown down!!
