If I was a betting man I would opt for Daimler, however being ignorant when it comes to 1960's saloons I will leave it for those in the know to provide confirmation.

This motor was photo'd at this years annual Thornes Park gathering in Wakefield.

It looks very much as those this is a 1968 Daimler V8 250. Thanks Keith and Points and Pints for your information.

Rear light clusters look a bit odd.

I find these rather appealing, reportedly fairly brisk for a such a large, stately-looking saloon.

bequemer als porsche!! :)

Among a fleet of vintage buses that transport visitors around Beamish Museum, in County Durham, is this Daimler CVG5 bus, which was new to Darlington Corporation in 1964.

My Daimler badge from an unknown ex Coventry Transport Fleetline that my Dad obtained.

All original condition, never cleaned.

Quite a sad sight, as this was obviously once a cherished car that took part in events, but now it seems to be abandoned

A re-spot from quite a few years back.

This 1897 Daimler Wagonette, O 9521, is one of the oldest British cars and is on display in the Coventry Transport Museum. It has a number of unusual features including Hot Tube ignition, tiller steering, and brakes that clamp down on to the tyres of the rear wheels. It has a wooden body, candle-powered lamps and solid rubber tyres.

Launched in 1962, the Daimler 2.5-Litre V8 was one of the finest cars of its era being a more refined and luxurious version of the highly-rated Jaguar Mk.II.

For many years Jaguar built almost identical models under the Jaguar and the Daimler brand. The Daimlers were the most luxurious ones. This Eight is from 2000. It has a 4.0 litre V8 engine. The Daimler brand was ended in 2007.

Salford renewed its fleet around 1950 and no new buses were bought for another ten years. One of the first to appear after this was 112, one of thirty and a Daimler like most of Salford's fleet at that time. It has a pre-selector gearbox and the selector pedal is completely mechanical. One drawback of this was that if the pedal was not pressed properly, it would kick back with great force against the driver's shin.

Built in 1962, Daimler CVG6 112 / TRJ112 survived to be the last Salford back-loader bus in service until it was bought for preservation in 1977. It was restored from GMT orange to its original green and cream colours, and later given a thorough overhaul ending in 2004. It is now on display in the Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester.

Quite understandably the Coventry municipal fleet was well stocked with Daimler buses . . . until there was a little upset caused by an order for competing Atlanteans rather than home built Fleetlines.

Here though, Clem has caught VWK 264, a 1958 Metro Cammell 60 seater CVG6 from the previous generation to the above debacle, resting outside Red House Motor Services office. Soon after he took this photo, the Coventry operation wall fall under the West Midlands PTE unbrella, something which never seemed to sit particularly well with the good citizens of the city.

Slightly strange that all the 'XJs' I've seen recently have turned out to be Daimlers.

A shame it spoils the brown and beige theme of this group.....
