State Listed as Threatened in Massachusetts; Extirpated in Connecticut
The Barrens dagger moth has a fragmented distribution across central North America. Populations are generally found in oak forests and in oak scrub communities in New England. They are nocturnal, and are most active from June to August. They lay their eggs in late summer, and larvae pupate overwinter in a flimsy cocoon in soil. Their preferred diet is honeydew from sucking insects and tree sap from bur oaks, but other varieties of oak are often suitable.
Threats to the persistence of barrens dagger moths include habitat loss, fire suppression, high levels of white-tailed deer browsing, invasive species, insecticides, off road vehicles, and light pollution. Other invasive moths and fauna species have a negative effect on the Barrens Dagger Moth, though loss of habitat is its biggest challenge. Support of local land trust is a positive way to help this species.

I used a pattern that called for bicone crystals and substituted dagger beads for part of the weave repeat pattern, then did a cross over of seed beads and small czech crystals

Back from far too long away. I will keep these posts short and sweet. This is a recurring doodle of some daggers I like to draw absent mindedly.
Knives and guns are a favourite of mine and I will dig through my archives and re-post a lot of these artworks from the few years I've been ignoring my blog site.
My doodle posts are really ideas from my sketchbook. They might turn into anything, and more often they will fizzle out. But I intend to post pretty much anything I like in this category.
These seem like medieval daggers or fat swords. I am sure someone will have a correct name for them. I might make some more and see if it makes a nice selection on A4.
I've been working recently with Procreate on the iPad, so I might progress them there and see if a bit of colour brings some more inspiration

Here comes Dolly Dagger
Her love’s so heavy, gonna make you stagger.
Dolly Dagger, she drinks her blood from a jagged edge...
Been riding broomsticks since she was fifteen
Blow out all the other witches on the scene.
She got a bull whip, just as long as your life.
her tongue can even scratch
the soul out of the devil’s wife.
At the Jimi Hendrix Memorial in Renton Washington.
