Luftwaffe Dagger [M1937] with Hangers, Portepee and Artificial Damascus Blade by Pet. Dan. Krebs Solingen
This 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger is in MINT condition with Artificial Damascus Blade. Model 1937. The total length is 43.0 cm. The Dagger has the maker mark on the blade: PET. DAN. KREBS SOLINGEN - Peter Daniel Krebs, Solingen.
Grip: The pommel has good detail to the oak leaves that surround the swastikas on both sides. These oak leaves have hand enhancements, and good pebbling in the plain areas. The crossguard features a fine, Luftwaffe eagle flying to the left, clutching a mobile swastika in his talons. The detail to the bird's head and breast area is still mint. The pebbled pattern on the reverse is also in good condition. The grip is a wartime white example, which is the style that has a carved wood base internally. This grip is in very good condition, except for a couple of extremely small hairliners that appear in the upper rib section. The grip is tightly wrapped with twisted, silver wire.
Blade: The blade is an artificially etched example, which is done in the pattern of "small roses". The blade is in MINT condition throughout, with no flaws or problems. The artificial Damascus was known as the "poor man's Damascus", as it certainly was priced a lot cheaper than a true Damascus blade, but yet gave a fine, dramatic effect to the piece. The reverse ricasso is etched with a shield device, having a lobster inside. The lobster is well detailed, with its two claws sticking upward. Around the shield is the firm's name and location, "PET. DAN KREBS/ SOLINGEN". The original black leather blade buffer is in place.
Scabbard: The scabbard appears to be a generic style. This scabbard is nice and straight throughout, and has good, plated surfaces. The bands have good detail to the oak leaves positioned on 45 degree angles around the circumference. The throat is retained by two headless, flush mount screws, one on each side.

The latest inductee into the now globally famous, Hall of Moths, is one sharp fellow. He's a Dagger Moth, that much is certain, but I can't definitely ID it as a Yellow-haired Dagger Moth. When found after a heavy rain, he still had water drops sticking to his head and top left leg.

NORFOLK, Va. - Paul Thompson’s hat trick was the dagger Saturday night as the Albany Devils completed a weekend sweep over the Norfolk Admirals, 3-1, at Scope Arena.
Albany capitalized first on the power play at 9:41 of the first period after John Kurtz got called for interference. Raman Hrabarenka started the play below his own blue line by threading a pass to Mike Sislo at center ice. Sislo skated into the Norfolk zone up the left wall and dropped the puck back to the center point for an incoming Hrabarenka. The defenseman wristed the puck towards net, which Thompson deflected behind goaltender Ryan Faragher. The Admirals went into the first intermission down, 1-0.
The Devils doubled their lead early in the second period on another power play goal, this time with Matt Bailey in the box for tripping. Joe Whitney manned the point and sent the puck over to the left wall and Mike Sislo, who turned and swung a pass to Thompson on the goal line. Thompson took a stride to the bottom of the circle and threw the puck on goal, which beat Faragher at 3:12.
Albany’s two-goal lead only lasted about two minutes before Norfolk broke the shutout. Mark Fistric broke up an attempted Devils break-out play to corral the puck at the blue line. Antoine Laganiere picked it up and rimmed it all the way down the boards. Dave Steckel stopped the puck behind the cage and shoveled a pass up to Louis Leblanc, who backhanded it into the twine and cut the Devils’ advantage to 2-1 at 5:13 of the middle frame.
Thompson put the game away with 2:30 remaining. Brandon Montour blasted the puck on Scott Clemmensen, which took a big rebound back to the blue line. The Admirals’ defense was unable to keep it in, and Matt Lorito poked it out to a waiting Thompson. The right winger took off into the Admirals’ end all alone and wristed a shot through the legs of Faragher, giving Thompson a hat trick and Albany the 3-1 win.
Faragher made 16 saves on the 19 shots he faced, and Clemmensen saved 37 of Norfolk’s 38 opportunities. Norfolk was blanked on both of their power play attempts, while Albany went 2-for-5 on the man-advantage.

Daggers such as this one, with two parallel ribs running down the blade, have been found throughout modern Israel. The design is undoubtedly Asian, probably Hyksos. How such a blade reached Thebes is not known; it may have been brought back as a souvenir by a Theban soldier who fought in the wars against the Hyksos.
