Phurbu Ritual Dagger, carved from wood.

Phurbu, signifies a three-sided ritual dagger sometimes made of meteorite-stone or otherwise from or iron or wood. Its handle usually depicts either the head of a triple-faced deity, a small sculptured skull, and sometimes also (part of) a dorje. With such a dorje/vajra, the Sanskrit name is vajrakila.

Phurbu also can refer to a deity personified as (or in) a ritual dagger.

This is a dagger from the second intermediate period when egypt was under the rule of an Aegean people that we only know today as the Hyksos, which was pretty much the Ancient Egyptian term for "damn foreigner." I think the hyksos introduced this style of dagger to the Egyptians. There are a lot of shinny later examples in the same style with the arrow shaped blade in Tutankhamun's tomb.

Don Basilio murdered Donna Julia with it,

his beautiful wife, because she was unfaithful.

Conte Antonio, one night, his wretched brother

was slyly murdering with this here dagger.

A black his young lover out of jealousy

and some Italian sailor a Greek boatswain.

From hand to hand it passed and into mine.

Many things my eyes have seen, but this one makes me quiver.

Come close and look at it, it has an anchor and a crest,

it's light, why take it, it's not even a quarter,

but I would advise you to buy something else."

-- How much? -- Seven francs only. As long as you want it, take it.

Daggers made from either cassowary or human thigh bones were used by the Abelem people of the Maprik/Wosera area for fighting and hunting. This one is incised with an ancestral clan design.

With my OM-D EM1 back from its very short Portuguese holiday at the Olympus service centre (very efficient indeed) the first shot to test it was this Grey Dagger moth, posed on a window frame (not ideal!). I love grey daggers - they are only small but the markings are subtle and beautiful.

13th Century - Brass Crafted Dagger

Daggers formed a part of the Noble Knight’s offensive weapons. It was compulsory to have a dagger hanging from the belt in the Medieval period, as this meant life or death. A good 8-9 inch blade was sufficient to kill or maim an opponent. Blade made from spring steel, with solid brass pommel and cross guard.
