2010...?
Promo shoot.
Strobist: Oh, probably 4 or 5 gridspots behind the models, aimed at their backs, just below shoulder-level. Medium softbox front and center as key, on-camera ringflash for fill. Ringflash was ABR800, all other lights were Profoto Acute2's.
SERA D'ESTATE
S’è sciolto in spruzzaglia il gran sole.
La sera d'estate, divampa;
riarde di febbre nel volto.
Sospira di schianto: « Vorrei.... »;
ma quindi ripete - « Son stanca... »
Sussurran preghiere i cespugli.
Nel folto, una lucciola splende
(eterna fiammella) a mezz'aria.
Recinge ogni candida rosa,
vermiglia raggiera - il tramonto.

Not a great shot,as under same conditions as the grey wagtail,but curious to an I.D as heard no call..................any ideas?

Giorgio de Chirico was a Greek-born Italian artist. In the years before World War I, he founded the scuola metafisica art movement, which profoundly influenced the surrealists. After 1919, he became interested in traditional painting techniques, and worked in a neoclassical or neo-Baroque style, while frequently revisiting the metaphysical themes of his earlier work.

wow I spent a few days "correcting" the white balance off my 2k+ photos on flickr. Can you imagine the work flow? all size, drag, next tab, repeat, select all, drag to ps, ctrl-shift-b, ctrl-s, enter, ctrl-w, repeat, go tab, replace, browse,d-lick, upload, repeat. Thank god for tab browsing.
Did that for about 1500 times and well, when I was doing the ones for the D it's like a magenta cast sudden flips away and I saw the photos truly for the first time.
You might argue this takes away the "character" of the film, but damn, some shots just look so great without the purple-ness.
Which have nothing to do with this photo btw lol. R.I.P. bro. :D
This was on the third day of the last train to operate over most of the narrow gauge lines. This was the annual Kiwanis Color Caravan that ran from Alamosa to Silverton and return. The fare was $23.00 for the 3-day event.
The 487 is a main stay in the locomotive fleet at the C&TS these days but a few of us old enough had the fun of seeing this engine in actual service over the D&RGW.
Of course, knowing where this photo was taken, a train would be slowing down instead of charging forth as shown here. There was a stop several hundred feet past the bridge in Gato where the train would stop to take on water. The Gomez General store was to the right, out of the picture.
This scene was repeated on October 6 when the passenger cars from the Silverton consist were taken empty to Alamosa for their annual repair work.
