While Teddy's Steelers and TJ's Cowboys both played today, I spent my first ever Thanksgiving alone. Last Thanksgiving I had two beautiful smiles waiting to lick up any scraps from the kitchen. Today I had none. LIfe can really punch you in the chest. Be prepared if you can because it will hit you like a ton of bricks. I seriously missed these smiles today.
I'm still working on their tribute video, but hopefully you understand how hard it is. Give me some time, but I think it will be worth it.

With the winter coming to an end and the Beatles mop hanging over his eyes it was time for a haircut. Once again our beautiful boy gets the most expensive haircut in the whole house!
More of the dogs parked next to me in Cotati on Thursday. They knew where their owner had gone and were watching for her. Actually there were 8 dogs in the car...3 larger ones sitting quietly in the backseat. Somehow these fellows looked like they were on a movie set.
This was a serendipitous shot. He saw me lying down, trying to figure out the light for his birthday meal shot, and decided to hop in front of the camera and flash that unmatchable smile. Happy 14th birthday to TJ, the most loyal dog in the history of loyal dogs. :)

I was spoiled by the light at my old apartment and will be flipping the living room arrangement tomorrow. Hopefully, that will make for better pics! :)

UPDATE: SURGERY IS DONE AND TEDDY'S AWAKE AND DOING WELL! :) ...BUT HE'S NOW TOOTHLESS.
Turns out the snot wasn't snot, it was puss. One of his rotten old teeth is sending that gunk up a nasal socket which kept him constantly sneezing and trying to blow it out. They have to put him under to pull the tooth then stitch up the hole into the nasal socket, otherwise he'll get food up there. He's 16, so I'm very apprehensive about the anasthetic. I chose this shot because he looks like he's having the sweetest dream ever. A dream of running through a field of meat-flowers and pizza-trees, surrounding a lake of milk. :)

2 months ago I would commute an hour to-then-from work everyday. Now, I live so close to work, I get to come home and see my boys everday for lunch!!! :) IT'S SO EASY BEING ME!!! :)

Christmas is gone and it's time to get back to what really matters...football. Teddy does not trust this year's version of the Steelers. We're alive for one more week, but this has not been a champion's season.

He has life to him - he makes a scene when I leave and has even been bullying Teddy, but he won't eat. He nibbles. He eats his treat (braunschweiger), but his meals amount to nothing more than a few shards of tuna or boiled chicken that will fit on your fingers and he loses interest. He made a tiny bit of waste today, but there was still blood. Also, he's become a master of manipulating his tongue so I can't even force his antibiotic down...he spits it out at me, smiles, and goes back to sleep. I'm desperate - tomorrow I'm buying a pound of ground beef and throwing it in the skillet, if he doesn't go for that...I don't know what I'll do.

Tomorrow Teddy Bear celebrates his 17th straight year of being the perfect dog and my bestest friend ever! What a streak! He has no teeth with which to chew, so the boys shared a plate of shepherd's pie to celebrate.

This is the last photo I took of Teddy Bear. I had no idea what I was taking when I snapped it. Over the last 60 or so days he grew pensive as his sight left him but he could see light and dark. If he woke up in the dark he would panic and walk around bumping into things. But when I bought the LED night light and rigged it up over his bed under my nightstand, he would wake up in the light and remain calm eventually falling back asleep.
Over the last few months I’ve tried to keep the stream happy, but I think I’ve been in denial since mid-October. Believe me, I prayed like hell to any deity that would listen to let him stay with us for one last Holiday Season. But I would look at him, and he would look right through me. He hasn’t been my Teddy for about 6 weeks or so. He had a few episodes that spoke to the end coming soon. This past Friday Teddy told me that it was time. I listened.
TJ and I need to thank everyone for the kind thoughts, prayers, and hugs. You will never know how much they mean to us. HellenFG - this photo is just too sweet.
I was so proud to have shared him with you all. He was an amazingly sweet, affectionate, and loving dog. I can't tell you how lucky I was to have him in my life for 18 years, and I can't tell you how happy I am to know that I DID appreciate what I had while I had it. It's not often we reach that enlightenment, but I did.
With that being said....I have another little guy to try and spoil more than any dog has been spoiled before. :)
The only significance of this shot is that this football is the only thing TJ has attached to, other than his buddy(the blue/white blob under the ball), in 15 years. So when I woke up this morning and saw his little paw slung over the football, it was hope that maybe that disgusting stuffed Buddy might be on his way out.

Flickr’s Explore page is one of the most beloved features for photographers in the Flickr community. Powered by an algorithm we continue to fine-tune, the page displays a rotating array of about 500 images from Flickr members every day. Explore is a great way to seek inspiration, discover fantastic talent from the community, and connect with photographers who share your interests.
Do I have to be popular to be on Explore?
It depends on your definition of popular, but the short answer is no. The images on Explore are picked by an algorithm based on activity on the photo. What really matters is the amount of authentic, organic interactions in the form of comments, faves, and views your photo gets after being posted, regardless of how many followers you have.
Do I have to be a Pro member to be featured in Explore?
No. We did experiment with giving priority exposure to Pro members in the past, but we found the best Explore experience when giving every member an equal chance to be featured. There is currently no consideration of account or billing status. Nevertheless, we continue to look at new ways to give our Pro members more exposure.
Why do I see photos with fewer faves or comments or views than mine on Explore?
The images featured in Explore aren’t necessarily the ones that gathered the most views, faves, or comments. We try to weigh in the quality of those actions over quantity. The timing of when you posted also plays a role.
Is there a limit on how often a Flickr member can be featured in Explore?
Yes. There are limits to how often a single member can be featured on the Explore page. We try to avoid predictability and give more of our members a fair share of exposure by setting some frequency limitations.
Is there a frequency with which I need to post photos in my account to be considered for Explore? Do people who post daily have a higher chance of being featured?
Regular posting is one of the factors that helps keep your audience engaged, but your focus should be on building an authentic community of people who value and interact with your work in a genuine way.
Does adding tags, titles, and descriptions to my photos impact my chances of being in Explore?
Yes. Providing more metadata and information about the upload influences the scoring of the photo. The more the system can understand the content uploaded, the better the chances of it being Explored.
Does adding my photo to groups help my chances of getting into Explore?
Adding your photos to on-topic groups is a great way to connect with other Flickr members interested in the same kind of photography that you do. It is also a great way to build community and interaction around your work, thus improving your chances of getting featured!
Why are there so many birds on Explore?
If you see that a particular theme is more popular in Explore than another, that’s a sign of a very deep community on Flickr that’s coming together to show their appreciation for those photos. The best you can do to get a more diverse range of topics showcased in Explore is to get your audience to engage with other members interested in the sort of photography you’d like to see featured.
Sorry for the lack of updates...but TJ and I are just fine. My work has required many more night hours lately, so there might not be many evening shots. TJ is no longer locked in the bathroom. I'm confident nobody will kick my door down and steal him in this neighborhood, so he runs around with the apartment to himself these days. He's full of it when I come home for lunch (dinner hour) every night and bites my pants leg when I leave to go back to work. Our bond will never be broken!
I'm working on Teddy's tribute video...it's really, really hard so please...bare with me. I spend about twenty hours getting twenty seconds. It sucks, but very cathartic.
