7/16/21 - Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale.
So after the inevitable cutting and resizing of the torso that almost made my work go viral for all the wrong reasons (I was briefly a cake designer on reddit it seems), it is once again whole and at this stage, complete.
Check out the comparison shot, before and after - the difference in length was a half an inch.
Along with the sculpt work that replaced that which was reduced and adjusted during the resize, I made sculpt changes to the creature's cranium, completed the detail behind the head and neck of the doomed pilot and reworked the sculpt of the hands to appear more bony and less fleshed out. I actually still have a bot of dremeling to do to the hands...and a moment ago I said this was complete (rolls eyes) LOL!
Next step, taking a break so I can get back to work on other projects. That being said, I know how I am and when there's a step needing to be done it will drive me crazy till it's complete so don't expect this project to be tabled anytime soon. BUT...believe I have the luxury of multitasking now LOL! Thinking about building up the remaining front of the chair, where the "canon" will sit. I'll have a better explanation in the update video that will follow up next week.

I found this updated head sculpt of the late Chris Reeve on Ebay and had to have it. It was made by a South Korean company and is designed to fit Hot Toys bodies. He's a great addition to my collection of action figures.
It comes in two parts. There is a resin and a hardener. Both are clay like substances that you mix together and mold into whatever shape you require.
Re-bodied Demitri on this WorldBox AT031 1/6 Scale Tattoo Body. The tattoo's are ideal to represent his Russian heritage. The detailing of the tattoo work is incredible.
Sculpt update on "Sleeping Ripley" - Narcissus - ALIEN 79 1:18 scale.
How about it! A sculpt of Ripley all covered up! LOL! Got a lot of grief after my last update if you can believe it. Must be doing something right then. LOL! This is a separate sculpt by the way...another update of "topless" Ripley is coming soon.
Seriously now, this sculpt is of Ripley featuring the bedgown she wore at the end of the film where she tucks herself in for the unexpectedly extended sleep.
Made some changes to the hair, sculpted the gown and sculpted the hands in the correct position which will help me build up the arms accurately to complete the piece.
Next up is finishing a sleeping Jonesy (cat) and fitting her into the Narcissus sleep chamber.

Sculpt update on the Alien Queen - ALIENS - 1:18 scale.
Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Studio.
I'm close to completing the mouth of the Alien Queen - finished sculpting the lower gum line around the teeth of the lower jaw. Also started to flesh out the lower jaw a bit but have much more detailing to add before it's considered complete.
Both the top and lower set of teeth have been sculpted separate and will be cast eventually using a semi-clear resin..or crystal clear, and painted afterward.
This coming week I want to complete the teeth and lower jaw and set up the components to the head for molding and casting. From there we go to the neck as well as the Queen's inner jaw.

I still have one more version to do before I return to sculpting the limbs. I want to do a "birth" version of the head turned up which will require a redo of the cranium sculpt, including neck and shoulders.
I have a build itch that's needing to be scratched so expect a return to the Nostromo build soon.
Had a muscle injury to deal with that put me out over the past week or so but back at it! More to come!!!

In my last update, I spoke of how I needed to strip away a portion of my sculpt to make more room in the back of the Space Jockey for additional detail. I think my last video update showed the area I "dremeled" away.
For this update, I have successfully sculpted the portions that were previously removed, adding more detail than before and this time bringing the sculpt further out, making room for the new detail that has also begun to take residence in the back of the sculpture. Two tubes have been added as well as a build-out between the two where the next set up tubes will go. This offset is accurate to the production photos I have studied from the set.
Next step is to sculpt the backpack behind the head, neck and shoulders. An enormous amount of biomechanical detail in this area alone so it should be fun! Just waiting on my latest FIXIT order from Aves Studio which should be here sometime this week.
Sorry for the absence of updates over the past month. Life turned the volume up a bit and I had to step away from the workbench to turn it back down. Nothing serious, which I'm thankful for. Speaking of being thankful, I hope all my American friends had a great Thanksgiving!

Completed the carapace (crown) of the Queen...next step iis the head. Three versions of the head sculpt come to mind ...
1. Docile, as she appeared when Ripley first discovered her, having the head tucked up into the carapace.
2. Teeth shown, mouth closed.
3. Mouth opened.
Think that should cover it :).
Am still considering a hinged jaw variant if I can make it work. We'll see. Hope you enjoy the new images!!!
Also need to begin thinking about how the heck I'm gonna cast this thing!!!

Final update tonight - Paint progress on the "air shaft" alien - One of the semi- static posed versions of the Alien I created. 1:18 scale. Figure has been completely primed and is ready to be painted. The beast has articulation in the wrists, elbows, solders and neck. Sculpt progress on the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale. Sculpt made entirely from Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC
I said "entirely" because it's the first figure I have created so far in which I haven't used a frame of any kind to sculpt upon. Total FIXIT with a little weight to it - makes it feel expensive LOL! I need to do a scale shot to show how it scales to my 3.75" figures in the series.
Working on completing the lower abdomen of the creature, which will connect via a ball socket to the upper torso...that comes later in the casting phase. Right now, all the parts will be connected via wire or wax clay. Haven't completed the back section of the lower abdomen yet.
Next step after finishing the lower abdomen will be the upper arms and the hips. I plan on tooling the arms with traditional shoulder joints with the hips being connected via ball sockets. This can all change as the sculpt progresses.

Last week I posted my progress on the 1/12 scale ALIEN 79 Kane head sculpt (EVA), painted and complete. Today I completed paint work on the same head sculpt but reduced to 1:18 scale thanks to Hydroshrink (Industrial Polymers). Not 100% reduced - there was a small bit of distortion in the jaw line reducing it a tad longer than the original sculpt. Nothing in my opinion to write home about. The third image shows the 1/12 scale Kane figure by NECA sporting the newly painted head along with my complete sculpt of a 1:18 scaled version of the EVA suit with the reduced head sculpt. I'm starting a new project customizing a BVS Superman action figure! The main reason for this is simple! Although I really like the BVS figure as a show piece also wanted to add a figure to my collection to be used in doll and action figure comics and stories! The BVS Superman however is very bulky and posing is limited! My plan is to customize a figure that falls somewhere between the MOS Superman and the BVS Superman! This may be a complete failure but I hope to at least learn some things from this process! The first step was to remove the suit and take a look at the body structure!
So basically, this figure uses the MOS body with added prosthetic pieces on the thighs and lats! The body is also painted silver! The figures ankles and foot pegs are shorter! Many complained about the height of the MOS figure because he wasn't compatible with other Hot Toys 1/6th figures!
The suit is made of a pliable synthetic material that is fairly elastic and fits the figure like a glove! It's also somewhat sheer so that the silver body beneath can be seen giving the suit a kind of sheen!
I'll continue chronicling my progress as I go and hopefully I won't completely embarrass myself with a big fat fail!

Straight from the pages of Quality comics, and the mind of Comic Book god, Will Eisner comes..Dollman! Dollman is constructed on a Doc Mego body, with a modified repro bodysuit, trunks, and booties. The Belt, belt buckle, and cape are by Yours truly :) Almost forgot, the head is a repainted Mr. Fantastic head. Hope You likey! :)

Paint update on the "crabwalker" Alien as seen in the deleted scenes from the 1979 Sir Ridley Scott film - ALIEN. 1:18 scale.
Meant to post an update earlier this week but unfortunately I had to make some repairs to my "crabwalker" figure due to some loose shoulder joints and air bubbles discovered in one of the upper arms while cleaning them up. It's important to correct this as the two arms hold most of the weight of the figure while in the "crabwalking" position - they need to be strong and stable with tight joint work. The figure can also stand semi-upright, recreating the scene where the alien rises slowly in front of Lambert.
Now primed with about three to four coats of undercoat gray acrylic, it's ready to be painted. More updates to come! #alien #nostromo #painting #crabwalker #deletedscene #customactionfigure
