honestly the Titans figure sculpt was perfect i just had to bring out the lines with paint

Kane - Chestburster Attack - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Busy painting the figure which mainly a static piece. Head is held by a magnet so it can be switched out with a non-facehugger version of Kane and one with his EVA helmet still attached. Applying the flesh tone first then will go back and detail the garment and facehugger. Have part of the AUTO DOC being built so this figure will have a place to call home. More paint updates to come...#alien #kane #facehugger #johnhurt #customactionfigure

having both been through a recent breakup, nina and crowley had a lot to talk about... or at least to drink about.

I made enough gear that could be mixed and matched to create differnt characters,

Last week I posted my progress on the 1/12 scale ALIEN 79 Kane head sculpt (EVA), painted and complete. Today I completed paint work on the same head sculpt but reduced to 1:18 scale thanks to Hydroshrink (Industrial Polymers). Not 100% reduced - there was a small bit of distortion in the jaw line reducing it a tad longer than the original sculpt. Nothing in my opinion to write home about. The third image shows the 1/12 scale Kane figure by NECA sporting the newly painted head along with my complete sculpt of a 1:18 scaled version of the EVA suit with the reduced head sculpt. Hope you enjoy! #alien #kane #eva #nostromo #NECA #sculpting #painting #johnhurt #customactionfigure

Sculpt update on various projects...

- 1:18 scale Newborn from Alien: Resurrection

- 1:18 scale Egg Layer Xenomorph from Aliens: Defiance

- 1:18 scale "The Beast" from ALIEN (79)

and a couple more images from the 1:18 scale Sleep Chamber (NOSTROMO) project.

For the Newborn and the Egg Layer Xenomorph, it's all about hands. I've created the frames for the hands I will be sculpting this week. For the Egg Layer Xeno, I want to sculpt a "neutral" hand which is nothing more than an enlarged version of the original ALIEN 79 hand so that will be fun.

For the ALIEN 79 "Beast"...I am happy with what I have done with the figure but I see where improvements can be made. The head sculpt has never been 100% for me...and I think with a little tweaking I can get it there. I'm also thickening the lower abdomen sculpt as its proportion to the upper rib cage is a tad overblown. I'll post a separate update to explain all that later.

Finally, I wanted to shoot a couple more images of Parker from the Sleep Chamber build just to get a couple more shots of that hand before I sculpt over it with another one. LOL!..and I shot another image of Ripley because it was just there. LOL! This was the shot Ridley wanted but the production company thought nudity (although logical in this circumstance) would limit the number of people that would see the film so he chose the alternative (the ridiculous bands across the chest) that didn't see the light of day anyway! LOL!

OK! See? I'm still kickin' out updates! LOL! I hope you all are safe and doing as well as you can with the current state of things. Hope my little updates can break up some of the monotony out there.

Thanks for looking! More to come!

Gamera Custom ShMonsterarts

masterpiece customized 4 inch action figure and fiberglass resin cast sculpture of a firebird by Myke dela Paz of Phoenix Force Creations.

I did a little customizing to this Hot Toys body! It's meant for a Chris Hemsworth/Thor head sculpt but that will also need a little bit of adjusting!

(just a crop because i needed this as a separate file)

Sculpt progress on the 1:18 scaled Space Jockey - ALIEN 1979.

Sculpt material used - Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Clay

So I'm only a couple of hours sculpt time to completing the back on the Space Jockey! I am currently working on the piping that is located behind the head of the creature.

Completed the sculpt to the other side and I'm happy with how it all balanced out. Took a couple of adjustments which meant sanding down a cured area and sculpting over but that's the name of the game when working with epoxy. Glad that's over with! :)

When the back is done, I plan to begin working on the front of the Jockey, where the eventual "cannon" will connect. I will take a break however and work on other projects that need attention (including some alien work).

I hope you all enjoy the updated images and for all you Alien fans out there, I hope you had a GREAT ALIEN DAY!

Joe's interview, Ammo magazine. Ten Year edition. Celebrating ten years of Ammo Forum.

I'm starting a new project customizing a BVS Superman action figure! The main reason for this is simple! Although I really like the BVS figure as a show piece also wanted to add a figure to my collection to be used in doll and action figure comics and stories! The BVS Superman however is very bulky and posing is limited! My plan is to customize a figure that falls somewhere between the MOS Superman and the BVS Superman! This may be a complete failure but I hope to at least learn some things from this process! The first step was to remove the suit and take a look at the body structure!

So basically, this figure uses the MOS body with added prosthetic pieces on the thighs and lats! The body is also painted silver! The figures ankles and foot pegs are shorter! Many complained about the height of the MOS figure because he wasn't compatible with other Hot Toys 1/6th figures!

The suit is made of a pliable synthetic material that is fairly elastic and fits the figure like a glove! It's also somewhat sheer so that the silver body beneath can be seen giving the suit a kind of sheen!

I'll continue chronicling my progress as I go and hopefully I won't completely embarrass myself with a big fat fail!

Sculpt update on The Queen - (Aliens 86) and the Egg Morpher (Aliens: Defiance). All 1:18 scale, sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt by Aves Studio LLC.

Began sculpting the lower jaw of the Queen. Started with a rough sculpt of the jaw, eyeballing the proportion and adding addition girth to the sculpt that once cured can be reduced through carving and sanding.

You can see my progression via the images attached. The next step will be to add a separate gumline that will include a set of lower teeth. Again, separate from the jaw so I can cast the piece in clear resin when it's time for replication.

The "neck" of the queen will need to be reworked once the master casts have been made. I'm using the smaller Revoltech Queen figure as an articulation reference for much of the articulation points for my sculpt.

For the Eggmorpher from Defiance, I've been sculpting the details to the back of the creature including the "pipes" as I like to call them as well as the separate spinal piece that emerges just below the back of the neck.

Next challenge for this sculpt will be the hands and the upper legs.

I've got a ton of pieces to mold and cast. And since just getting over a bad illness and this hurricane scare, it put me off a couple weeks. Sorry about that. I will always try for sure to get one update a week...don't want anyone to think I've fallen off LOL!

Hope you enjoyed the update! Always, more to come!

Once the clay hardened, I prepared to repaint it using these colors... basic flesh tone, burnt umber and orange! I learned a while ago that a dab of red or orange will add luster to flesh tones.

Additional shots of Skorr and Gribbet together!

I found this updated head sculpt of the late Chris Reeve on Ebay and had to have it. It was made by a South Korean company and is designed to fit Hot Toys bodies. He's a great addition to my collection of action figures.

Self Portrait - NOSTROMO EVA SUIT - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Paint app complete on a self portrait - a little way of injecting myself into the lore. Always wanted to sport one of those EVA suits. Sculpt progress on the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale. Sculpt made entirely from Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC

I said "entirely" because it's the first figure I have created so far in which I haven't used a frame of any kind to sculpt upon. Total FIXIT with a little weight to it - makes it feel expensive LOL! I need to do a scale shot to show how it scales to my 3.75" figures in the series.

Working on completing the lower abdomen of the creature, which will connect via a ball socket to the upper torso...that comes later in the casting phase. Right now, all the parts will be connected via wire or wax clay. Haven't completed the back section of the lower abdomen yet.

Next step after finishing the lower abdomen will be the upper arms and the hips. I plan on tooling the arms with traditional shoulder joints with the hips being connected via ball sockets. This can all change as the sculpt progresses.

Hope you all enjoy the update. More to come! #newborn #alienresurrection #miniature #customactionfigure #alien #adi #studioadi

One of a whole series of "alternate universe" post apocalypse themed G.I. Joe customs I was working on. I originally thought of the dog as being named Anubis but now I am considering Ravage instead, as a nod to Transformers. This is one of the few in the series I considered finished, the rest are sitting in a drawer waiting....
