Six Deering tacklers try to bring down South Portland's Ryan Curit as he fights for more yards during the Red Riots 36-34 win.

The hearing intends to bring together experts and stakeholders concerning EU-Morocco relations on a broad range of topics. In three panels, speakers from Morocco and Europe will touch upon issues like religion, human rights and security as well as on the current ECJ rulings and the future of EU-Morocco relations.

A mineral is a naturally-occurring, solid, inorganic, crystalline substance having a fairly definite chemical composition and having fairly definite physical properties. At its simplest, a mineral is a naturally-occurring solid chemical. Currently, there are over 6100 named and described minerals - about 200 of them are common and about 20 of them are very common. Mineral classification is based on anion chemistry. Major categories of minerals are: elements, sulfides, oxides, halides, carbonates, sulfates, phosphates, and silicates.

The carbonate minerals all contain one or more carbonate (CO3-2) anions.

Aragonite has the same chemistry as calcite - it is calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Why is it a different mineral? Aragonite has a different molecular structure - the atoms are packed differently. Different minerals having the same chemical formula are called polymorphs (another good example is graphite & diamond - both C).

The difference in atomic-level packing between calcite and aragonite can be seen at the level of mineral hand samples. Aragonite forms crystals in the orthorhombic class. Many aragonite crystals are acicular (needle-like). Many aragonites form pseudohexagonal crystals, the result of 6 orthorhombic prisms growing parallel to each other. The specimen seen here is a top view of a cyclic-twinned, pseudohexagonal aragonite mass.

Aragonite is slightly harder than calcite, at H=3.5 to 4, occurs in many colors, and easily bubbles in acid. Aragonite is a little bit heavier than calcite, due to closer packing of atoms.

Most modern seashells & coral skeletons are composed of the aragonite. Whitish-colored lime sand beaches in the world are aragonitic. Occasionally, "whitings" are seen in shallow, warm ocean environments. Whitings (cloudy, milky seawater) turn out to be loaded with tiny hair-like needles of aragonite.

In the rock record, aragonitic or aragonite-rich sediments convert to calcite over time. Cenozoic-aged carbonate sedimentary rocks are often aragonitic. Mesozoic- and Paleozoic-aged carbonates are almost always calcitic. Many ancient fossils have had their aragonitic shells dissolved away. Ancient shells that were originally calcitic are often still well preserved.

A friend in Swift Current lived in a house looking north toward a coulee just outside the city. During a visit with him, on a morning in mid-April, I saw the fog settled in the coulee. The tree, just beginning to add foliage, contributed to the feeling of a fresh start to the morning.

Several bridges named London Bridge have spanned the River Thames between the City of London and Southwark, in central London. The current crossing, which opened to traffic in 1973, is a box girder bridge built from concrete and steel. It replaced a 19th-century stone-arched bridge, which in turn superseded a 600-year-old stone-built medieval structure. This was preceded by a succession of timber bridges, the first of which was built by the Roman founders of London.

The current bridge stands at the western end of the Pool of London and is positioned 30 metres (98 ft) upstream from previous alignments. The approaches to the medieval bridge were marked by the church of St Magnus-the-Martyr on the northern bank and by Southwark Cathedral on the southern shore. Until Putney Bridge opened in 1729, London Bridge was the only road crossing of the Thames downstream of Kingston upon Thames. London Bridge has been depicted in its several forms, in art, literature, and songs, including the nursery rhyme "London Bridge Is Falling Down", and the epic poem The Waste Land by T. S. Eliot.

The modern bridge is owned and maintained by Bridge House Estates, an independent charity of medieval origin overseen by the City of London Corporation. It carries the A3 road, which is maintained by the Greater London Authority. The crossing also delineates an area along the southern bank of the River Thames, between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, that has been designated as a business improvement district.

Volunteers Needed! These photos show the trash currently in this historic stream. We can certainly use your help! Please mark your calendars for our cleanup of the Historic Bread and Cheese Creek on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Rain or Shine, we clean up the section of Historic Bread and Cheese Creek from the Berkshire Area to North Point Road. Registration will be at 2408 Plainfield Road, Dundalk, MD 21222. This event will be run in conjunction with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay’s Annual Project Clean Stream and American River’s Nation River Cleanup as well as Reclaim the Bay! We have also attached an event flyer for your use.

We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them

Volunteers are also needed to arrive early and stay late for setup and break down. Photographers and Videographers also needed!

First Niagara Pavillion

Assignment: Create a collage showing a current event.

I used Veteran's affairs, and the Iraq war. In my opinion, before entering into the war in Iraq, the government needed to make arrangements for those soldiers who were wounded in combat. They did not - in fact, veteran's affairs budgets were cut. Because of the enemy targeting extremities because of body armor, we are seeing men and women losing arms and legs, and having brain injuries. The photo of Bush was made up of portraits of men and women who lost their lives in Iraq.

Software: Photoshop

Grade: A

Note: this was a mixed media project. I added the black box which emulates the headline I cut from Newsweek.

Tom is an engrossing conversationalist. Sheila is a good listener.

He was probably talking about something from The Current at that time.
