This is not how I intended to be spending the first proper day of my holidays but here we are on my first Monday off and I'm currently dosing myself up on honey to try and holt a cold in it's tracks.
I'm achey, tired and generally feeling pretty sorry for myself today so fingers crossed good old Manuka will do the trick. Here goes...

The current Oyama Jinja dates back to 1875. You can see various architectural elements, particularly above the gate (stained-glass, for example). However, the main purpose of the shrine is to pay homage to the Maeda family who built their empire in Ishikawa, particularly in the Edo period when they were 2nd only to the Tokugawa in annual revenue.
