I have been waiting for a clear calm morning to take some pictures from the cliff but the weather has been uncooperative. Then a few days ago I was thrilled to be up early and the conditions were ripe. I dashed out the door with my camera gear and drove to the cliff here in Santa Cruz California.

What I found was the cleanest conditions I have seen in a long time. Not the biggest or most intense but the CLEANEST. I love how the waves come in like a machine and curl with all the elegance of blown glass. The wind slight but enough to hold the wave up a little and the sun at my back warming me as I pressed the shutter release button.

I am showing a pair of the most interesting but i must have taken more than fifty of the same spot but different waves. I was hoping that someone would eventually come out and surf them but no one came at first. I was not upset but surprised as this is rare for the spot.

I was asked to go to a local Curling rink to cover the Curl for Cancer fundraiser. I was able to get a few shots for myself before the fun started.

Spectacular brightly colored toucans are always exciting to see, especially when it seems to be using a good brand of hair mousse as this Curl-Crested Aracari (Pteroglossus beauharnaesii)! Photo by Andrew Whittaker.

Alya got curly hair like her dad's, but strangely it's only in the back of her head. Whenever she sweats or it's humid, the curls get pretty extreme (Mom lovessss it).

If you'd only seen the way I curled a smile when you made me blush.

Or how I played with my curls to ease the shyness.

Or how I curled my lips when I felt your warmth.

If you only truly known how it felt to be mine...

You would have know your place was by my soul.

Going to try and curl my hair more this year. First time I have curlers in my hair this year! January is full of firsts for me. I LOVE IT!

Vintage themed weekend at Wisley including a hairstylist (prettymevintage.co.uk). My daughter made me queue 45 minutes for this 'do. But we had fun.

Some lady at the store couldn't get over that my hair matched my coat and purse. I get that a lot when I wear this. Tempted to say that I colored my hair with that purpose in mind...

My first career was that of an Antique Dealer for 30 years and my second was that of an IATSE Stagehand / Audio Visual Tech. I retired from IATSE recently only to find myself with 'A New Challenge' of being an Antique Dealer again... sometimes life just seems to go full circle...

these were really easy to make...just paper curls placed in the clear ornaments. finished with christmas-y quote rubons and ribbons.
