Make a photograph of a beautiful simple shape, such as an egg, today. Utilize lighting and focus to make it sing. #ds480
The focus is a little off in this shot, but I love the color, so this is the one I added to dailyshoot.com. You can see my two runner-ups on Flickr.
The curl on the left is a completed curl in this style. The curl on the right is what NOT to let happen! ;)
I wish they were.
But alteast they are evolving towards that.
By they, I refer to the above collection of Sundews and Venus Fly Trap at an exhibit of insectivorous plants at the Flower Conservatory in the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
I missed the feeding time for these plants - that would have been fun - but now you can see a curled up Sundew (Drosera capensis) and a few fully closed leaves of the Venus Fly Trap (Dionaea muscipula).
I learnt some interesting facts as well. For example, did you know that leaf closure in the Venus Fly trap uses a lot of energy and the leaf dies after 5 times?
Look at the large for a detailed view.

When Pinky curls his arms up like this, I call him my "bunny." This cat is so used to being photographed that he didn't flinch when the shutter clicked at all.
