The manzanita bark curls in autumn, as the tree sheds its smooth, skin-like bark to grow more for the next season. It is usually worth the time to stop and take a look at the beautiful and tiny details of creation. The marvelous and intricate designs can speak of great and wondrous things.

Wow I've forgotten whats its like waking up at the crack of. Its been a while since I've done a sunrise.

Got a little lucky it was quite a nice sunrise when the colour came.

Had to share it though with three other photographers but what can you do.

One more to come of this mornings shoot.

like the surfers, I was trying to catch the good wave curls! this was one of the best ones I managed to get

I've been trying on and off to get a photo of the ferns unfolding for several weeks, but it's been a bit too windy and I haven't managed a shot that was worth uploading.

I think I've got it this time. I like the way curled ferns look like tiny baby's fists.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

Buckinghamia celsissima, commonly known as the ivory curl, is a species of trees, constituting part of the plant family Proteaceae. They grow naturally only in the wet tropics rainforests areas of north eastern Queensland, Australia. Wikipedia

(This was captured in South East Queensland).

Almost everywhere one looks, there is an Ivory Curl tree in bloom at the moment.

Ah, yes, the Te Rewa Rewa footbridge again! I can't help it, it's such a beautiful bridge. I know I posted a similar shot last year, but this time I got that wonderful late afternoon light on the bridge with a great sky.

Have a wonderful weekend!

This fascinating plant is a wonderful piece of natural artwork

So many tender curls to capture during my Konkan visit. The entire plant was full of big red ants and it was rather scary to go so close and click a photo!

I love how the branches of these trees curl upwards. I was hoping for more snow on them but I like the suggestion of snow on some of the branches

The waves in Kauai had such a beautiful curl so I was determined to get some pix. This was one of them. Not the number one best, but up there on the list. You can just imagine being a surfer right there in that sweet spot where the wave creates a tunnel.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I just loved the horizontal and vertical lines in this contrasting with the curls of smoke and the position of his legs. Best viewed large - press 'L', enjoy!

Close-up candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I may have slightly misfocused this due to the close range and movement but I simply love the resulting shot, the curl of the lip and the curly hair - it is all about expression in this shot. Enjoy!

Le musée Marmottan in Paris has a select collection watched over by both visitors and portraits. The measured and exercised 'kiss curl' was a fashion for portraits in a number of different rooms, reminding the viewer of mankind's desire to conform. Ceramic styles in prehistory show this desire to repeat in 'rooms' as big as today's countries, for example the bell beaker - campaniforme... The desire to conform does not stop differences - here above, a centre parting; in prehistoric pottery, let's say the Vénus de Gavà. And there is nothing strange or ahuman about seeing difference, as humans both conform ... and tolerate differences. Outside of the museum, the differences are everywhere, as the diversity of the world sees office and official capacity: the embassies of Monaco, Madagascar, Gabon, Belarus and Afghanistan all ringing a circle like kiss curls between a centre parting.

This was a shot I wasn't going to upload, but after I did the crop, I noticed the little curls better on the petals up at the top, then I decided I liked it.

So here's one for the Sunshine Sundays Pool
