Made hubby a birthday cake for tomorrow, but felt the need to make some cupcakes too. This with a cup of tea is just what I need right now.

Cupcake all wrapped up in tulip wrap paper, chocolate, chocolate frosting with a brownie chunk on top.
“Come along my dears!” Mother called to the children who were squealing and laughing uproariously, lost amidst the joys and delights of their party games. “It’s time for tea! Cupcakes for everyone!”
The theme for "Looking Close… on Friday" for Friday 11th of April is "crazy cupcakes". Now I know you are going to say that this should be a macro shot, and it is. What might surprise you is that everything in this photograph, from the furnishings and wallpaper to the crockery and cupcakes are made up entirely of 1:12 size miniatures from my extensive collection which I use for photography purposes. Anyone who follows my photostream knows that I love and collect 1:12 size miniatures which I photograph in realistic scenes. The artifice of recreating in minute detail items in 1:12 scale always amazes me, and it’s amazing how the eye can be fooled. Every one of these dainty cupcakes topped by dainty flowers, Union Jacks, sprinkles and marzipan rabbits (it is the lead up to Easter after all) and covered cream icing is only five millimetres in diameter and between five and eight millimetres in height! Each one could sit comfortably on the pad of my little finger! Made in England by hand from clay by former chef turned miniature artisan, Frances Knight, her work, like these cupcakes, is incredibly detailed and realistic, and she says that she draws her inspiration from her years as a chef and her imagination. I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, that the cupcakes are crazy enough, and that they make you smile!

This is another wax seal, created with a brass stamp. There are so many fun designs these days. With all the miniature cakes I've managed to accumulate, I couldn't resist this one.
For those who're interested in scale, the wax seal is about 1" high.
Happiness is... on a cold winters morning, baking chocolate cupcakes and licking the bowl... :))

cupcakes my son and i made today for the boy scout garage sale tomorrow
so if you are in laporte tomorrow stop by and get some home made cupcakes.
One of my favourite cupcakes is this vanilla and almond sponge topped with white chocolate frosting, this time decorated with little coloured 'chocoballs'. These have the not so delightful name of 'Unicorn poop'!

First attempt at some food photography. Girlfriend made the cupcakes and helped do the sprinkles. Had a ton of fun doing this today.

Although I like cupcakes ok, it's the breads I've been photographing lately that I really love. Having eaten all my good bread, I was fumbling around the house for something new to photograph. I was about to give up when my wife walked through the door with two of these. I didn't like any shots of the pair and was getting a little frustrated trying to composed them. It was only after pulling one of them out of frame that I started to like the composition. Hense the solo cupcake.
One 600Ex-Rt to camera left (for texture) and shot through a shoot through umbrella. Speedlite was fired via ST-E3-RT Transmitter. White reflector to the right.

Rich and spicy chai tea cupcakes made with loose leaf chai tea, topped with brown sugar swiss meringue buttercream icing. Great 'undressed' as well, warm out of the oven with a little pat of butter.
