05.04 -- photo by SONJ -- The 18th annual Perlman Cup, an all women's golf tournament fundraiser named after the founder of Special Olympics New Jersey, Bessie Cutter Perlman, was held at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe. More than 80 ladies, including a few SONJ athletes, hit the links to show their support.
I got this cup for Christmas, along with some 'Dreamtime' tea, both from Whittards of Chelsea. I love Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and I much prefer John Tenniel's illustrations to any other interpretation, so it was a wonderful gift.
Capitola has been such a special place for me for so many years....the cup was a Christmas present from a student and Capitola and sereni-tea really go together for me!
yeah, the fish are kinda big,,, on the other hand, the fisherman holds together pretty well in original size.
Details of a pitcher plant cup obtained whilst walking around Bario. Quite beautiful. Of the Nepenthes Fusca species.
Visited my dad in Bario Highlands where he'll be working until mid 2008. It's quite remote, located on a plateau in the Kelabit Highlands and is about 1000m above sea level, hence cool weather can be enjoyed. Bario is famous for its rice (which is more fragant and sold at a premium price) and also its super sweet pineapples (sometimes I think they're too sugary!) To get there, one needs to fly from Miri or Marudi. It's quite a nature lovers' paradise, esp. for those who love jungle trekking. Expect lots of walking as transportation is limited (the few cars are mostly for ferrying goods). Yet it's not as cut off from the world as expected as there's still cable tv and internet cafes! However, no cell phone reception, so one has to rely on the public phones.
With the cooler climate, and no disturbance (i.e no phones ringing), I got quite a good break from work, and even caught up on my sleep!. Lol.

What to do when one of your favorite coffee cups* smashes on the floor? Save it for photos of course. It was a good subject on which to try my new polarizer, a replacement for the one that fell off the lens while I was shooting the MM "glaze" theme. I must say the new one (B+W high transmission) is far superior than the old dark Hoya.
* fortunately I have 3 others just like it
