Cucumber close-up

Ohiopyle State Park, western Pennsylvania (Nov 23, 2014)

Cucumber on the vine.

My cucumbers are finally starting to grow after a really slow start. They’ve started climbing up my make-shift support frame. This one is reaching out to get some support.

Cucumber plant tendril...

Used a weird edit in aviary, to amuse myself.

Cucumber spiders are a common sight across the UK, found along the edges of woodlands, in hedgerows and many other habitats with trees or bushes. They spin small webs amongst the foliage to catch flying insects. Rather than hiding away, cucumber spiders often sit out in the open, relying on their green body to camouflage them as they wait to pounce on any prey caught in their web.

There are five British species of cucumber spider, four of which need to be viewed under a microscope to identify to species. Only two of these are common - Araniella cucurbitina and the virtually identical Araniella opisthographa.

A faint touch of green in the shadows (on my screen, at least), similar to Foma Retrobrom.

This is a strange one. The three dots below the cucumber slices were not on the neg, I promise. If there would have been another 1-2 small dots, I would have taken it for a micro pawprint from Selma. But of course it isn't. A message from the other side?

Some of the 4 varieties I’ve grown this year. The little round ‘Dragons Eggs’ taste particularly nice.

If you ever get a chance to go here....go! This unassuming falls is in a class by itself. See the former name below.

Three different shots of Cucumber falls. Went there this Saturday and visited a few more falls. They are flowing pretty good for winter

Made a jar of thin sliced cucumbers and onions today. Added vinegar, water, salt, pepper, and dill weed. Going to be yummy!

I'm so annoyed that the camera moved on the tripod head when I inserted the plate holder, resulting in this skewed composition. Oh well. I'll shoot it again later today.

Cucumber Falls in Ohiopyle State Park.

This is probably the most visited and photographed part of the park. Super easy to get to from a pull off parking lot. We've had a good amount of rain lately. Helped make the falls something special today.

Celebrating St Patrick's day with a touch of green on for Macro Monday's theme "Green"

I placed a green bottle behind this thin ribbon of cucumber for a deeper tone of green.

Happy Macro Monday.

Just hanging around, waiting for dinner... This Cucumber Spider has made a web on an Ox-Eye Daisy.

I think this is a very pale cucumber spider. (Araniella cucurbitina) He was busy with his web in the hydrangea bushes.

While exploring a site dubbed “Explorer Ridge” during the 2016 Deepwater Exploration of the Marianas expedition, scientists came across this purple holothurian, or sea cucumber, measuring almost 20 centimeters (7.9 inches) in length, resting on the seafloor. While they were able to identify it as belonging to the order Synallactida, they could not identify it further and believe it may be an unknown and undescribed species.

...we can soon harvest our very own cucumbers
