Two speedway cucumbers, 22 and 21 centimetres. In the process of growing them, I found this variety produces predominantly female flowers, so these might be the only two I'll get this year, since I wasn't able to get more flowers fertilized.
Pickles cucumbers - these cucumbers are from my veggie patch which I have never seen in uk before, but they are crisp and yummy
It looks like she has tied the petals down with silk to make a nest for herself.
I have been watching her for a day or two now, and she keeps moving from flower to flower, presumably during the night. She has survived a hailstorm, a pigeon flapping past the daisies, and now some hot weather. When she moves, I struggle to find her again, as there are maybe 100 or so oxeye daisies in my garden.
I've posted a lot of shots of these falls. This should be my last one (well, until spring). Sorry to be so boring lately - I just haven't been shooting very much
Took this on my way out - saying, I'll grab one more shot, turned out to be one of the ones I like the most.
Polar Vortex - a popular saying this winter.
Day 36 of 365
I planted my cucumbers a little late this year and they are just now starting to stretch towards the sun and grow!
April 2012 Monthly Scavenger Hunt entry - "Curl"
Yesterday we went into the city for a while, and swung by the High Line, was a nice stroll along it, but quite hot so we popped down to find a cold drink, and spotted this place at the bottom of the stairs.
Now I did a bit better on my quest to talk more to people I do not know, Normally if buying anything from a shopkeeper I just say something like "I will have one of these please" or ask my wife to order them, but this time I took the time for some pleasantries and with the couple running this stall, to be honest after I started the conversation, my wife did some of the talking also but we did find out this is a sideline summer job for them and this lady makes the Cucumber lemonade herself, being allergic to cucumber I didnt try any but my wife said it was very tasty and refreshing.
They also had some Mixed fruit and berries juice which I would have liked to try but a blackberry had got stuck in the spigot and they hadnt had a chance to clear it yet as they were doing quite good business.
Was a lovely short visit into the city, and if your ever on the high line and need a cool drink, pop and get it from this couple, there very nice people.
Overheard at the local Squash Petal
"You go first"
"no you go"
"no YOU go"
"I'm not going in there, they're a bunch of pollen hogs!"
Explored :-D

My cucumbers are finally starting to grow after a really slow start. They’ve started climbing up my make-shift support frame. This one is reaching out to get some support.
Green Cucumber Beetle on Zinnia at Metzger's Zinnia Patch in Woodland. This is from a previous year. Thanks Ross Walker for the id.
Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is a widely-cultivated plant in the Cucurbitaceae family . There are three main varieties of cucumber—slicing, pickling, and burpless/seedless—within which several cultivars have been created. The cucumber originates from South Asia,

This is a strange one. The three dots below the cucumber slices were not on the neg, I promise. If there would have been another 1-2 small dots, I would have taken it for a micro pawprint from Selma. But of course it isn't. A message from the other side?
Some of the 4 varieties I’ve grown this year. The little round ‘Dragons Eggs’ taste particularly nice.
If you ever get a chance to go here....go! This unassuming falls is in a class by itself. See the former name below.
A cucumber, slightly out of focus, but with nice bokeh, from a community garden at Lansdowne Mall.

Made a jar of thin sliced cucumbers and onions today. Added vinegar, water, salt, pepper, and dill weed. Going to be yummy!
