A cubic inch of some stars

weighs a hundred tons – Blue tit,

who could measure the power

of your tiny spark of energy? Your hair-thin legs

(one north-east, one due west) support

a scrap of volcano, four inches

of hurricane: and, seeing me you make the sound

of a grain of sawdust being sawn

by the minutest of saws.

The original Mini Cooper was launched in 1961 as a sporty and competition based car, the normal Mini 848cc engine was given a longer stroke to increase capacity to 997 cubic centimetres increasing power from 34 to 55bhp. The car featured a racing-tuned engine, twin SU carburettors, a closer-ratio gearbox and front disc brakes, uncommon at the time in a small car. One thousand units of this version were commissioned by management, intended for and designed to meet the homologation rules of Group 2 rally racing. The 997 cc engine was replaced by a shorter stroke 998 cc unit in 1964. A more powerful Mini Cooper, dubbed the "S", was developed in tandem and released in 1963. Featuring a 1071 cc engine with further tuning and a 1275cc version followed. The Cooper name was dropped by BMC in 1971.

A new updated Mini Cooper named the RSP (Rover Special Products) was briefly relaunched in 1990–1991, with slightly lower performance than the 1960s Cooper. It proved popular and a new Cooper-marked Mini went into full production in late 1991. From 1992, Coopers were fitted with a fuel-injected version of the 1,275 cc engine, and in 1997 a multi-point fuel injected engine was introduced, along with a front-mounted radiator and various safety improvements.

The model is from 12 pieces of 2x1 rectangles of Striped kraft papers [15cm x 7.5cm]. The procedure for folding the House Module is applied to both ends of the rectangles. Assembling is quite easy because the inside of the Cubic frame can easily be accessed. The assembled model is very stable. other Polyhedral frames can also be assembled by this method.

The gas I use is measured in cubic feet, there is a complicated calculation applied to work out the cost as it's charged in British Thermal Units.

Todays challenge for the daily shoot was Speed or the sense of speed can add excitement to a photo. Make a photo of something going fast or that can go fast.

And I thought this Motorcycle with 96 Cubic inches sure looked like it could go fast, so here it is

Nissan Cubes have never officially been sold in Australia, so all examples seen here are 'grey' imports from Japan.

One of the icons of Rotterdam are the cubic houses. 40 conventional houses were tilted 45 degrees to become the first cube-shaped houses in Holland. Piet Blom designed the cube houses in 1984. His design represents a tree and all houses together make up a wood. Blom’s concept was to design a kind of village within a main city, a safe haven in which anything could happen.
