An approximately two-square-inch (12.9 sq. cm) section of cloth upholstery on a sofa. The fabric has a woodgrain-like look in that it appears directional but random over the amount used in making the furniture.
a view of the village shoreline at 7:00 a.m. this view was taken from the seawall of a neighbor’s house and facing south. the tide is low and the boats have come home. the catch had been shared. the men are settled. if you could find a sign of modernity here it is the transmission line tower on top of the hill in the middle of the image. the line carries power generated from a geothermal source on the island of negros which is 22 kilometers across from here. that is the island you can see on my sunsets. as for sunrises, imagine lots of towers like that lining up our hills. (post-processing: palette knife and crosshatch)
The mix of overlapping design on this skyscraper in London reminds of the crosshatch technique used in drawing.

This is the side of the warehouse of a fantastic local organic and wholefood retailer called Lembas.
The patterned cloth comprising a button-down shirt.
I've appreciated, but never approached the level of geeky speculation of the fabric everyday shirts are made of, until getting a closeup of this shirt for this week's theme. The crosshatch appears to be formed from a fairly ordinary solid thread. It's the overall streaky look that's intriguing, making me wonder if the thread used in the production of the fabric is supplied that way.
Overall width is about 2½" (63.5mm).

Failed to get over to a local railway station where the footbridge has multiple diagonal lines in it's metalwork , a load of attempts trying to capture diagonals on some of the roofs around and some indoor shots using the stairlift track - but went for this one seen and taken in Great Bookham top car park by the recycling point there .
Now cross-hatching like this normally means no stopping or parking - hence the title Mixed Messages , however , enough to say that this is only a portion of the cross-hatching and the bit with " NO " is just off shot to the left !!

After our visit to the Botanical Gardens we did a quick tour of downtown Richmond. Not that I don't have more photos from the gardens.... I didn't even touch on the orchids! But those photos wait to be processed so another time perhaps. This particular spot caught my eye on the edge of the city and I think above all things that I am very glad I am not the one who painted this mural in that spot! Yikes! When viewed up close it can be seen that the hands were done by a series much like crosshatching but on a very much grander scale. It would be fun I think, if one had the time, to make an album or a book of all the murals in the towns and cities of an area. Many are very striking works of art! Hope every one has a blessed mid-week day. Prayers going out to everyone impacted by the gas crunch on the East Coast USA.

Anyone who ventures out of towns and cities in northeastern Ontario in the summer, especially hot summers like this one, knows that Deer flies are around. They really bite - they crosshatch the skin with their mandibles (females only, thank goodness) and then drink the blood. As a result, they are somewhat unpopular. My son and I were hiking in North Frontenac and an especially irritating Deer fly buzzed around us as we looked as a Dragonfly. Quite suddenly the Dragonfly flew up, grabbed the Deer fly, and settled back to enjoy a meal. I had never actually seen a Dragonfly take a flying insect from the air that closely. It was certainly well-timed from our perspective.

A chaotic crosshatching of fallen tree trunks amid thinner, younger trees growing straight up. The fallen trees appear to have been downed by natural causes as this scene is located in the middle of an undisturbed arboretum.
Can you imagine paper made out of rose petals. What if they made bank notes of it, you could then adore the smell of money.
A tight crop of a tree trying to survive next to a modern office development on the south bank of the River Thames near to London Bridge.

There are so many neat rock formations hidden throughout the Southwest. The white cracks are due to natural gas moving through cracks and bleeding into adjacent rocks. We are grateful to have been granted special access to this location and two last minute spots just opened up. Come explore with me May 31-June 5, 2022!

this is an image of the sunset across tañon strait from sta. filomena, alegria, cebu, philippines on oct 15 2009. it was derived from the original photograph shot by the artist. the image was processed with the angled strokes and crosshatch filters and was texturized in medium-fine sandstone.
