Steveston Historic Fishing Village is an ever so romantic fishing village, that is situated in Richmond BC, on the Mighty Fraser River
Canada
Interesting how the river currents produced a crosshatching effect of the surface of the water (foreground)
Definitely one of British Columbia's best kept secrets.
If you enjoy quaint fishing villages, combined with light and vibrant colours, I am pleased to extend an invitation for you to browse through my.... 'I 💖 Steveston album'

The Greater and Lessor Scaups are very similar to each other. One has a narrower head (lesser) and the other rounder (greater). The lesser is about 1-2 inches shorter in length but without them side by side I can not tell the difference. The Greater Scaup wings are white and go all the way to primary feathers, the entire wing edge is white in flight. The Greater Scaup pattern on its back is crosshatch limited to the back while the Lesser Scaup patter is Crosshatch on the back and flanks and gives it a dirty appearance.
Thanks to Sue who weighted in below, This is a Lessor Scaup.

I took this shot with and without the flash. I loved it without the flash! It seemed very...well...elegant! :) I used a crosshatch stroke and nothing else so viewed in original size you can see it. Very subtle but again...elegant. Have a blessed day!

Please no flash/picture comments or multiple invites. I value your opinion so please leave your honest opinion and leave the flash comments out! Thanks!
Loving the new perspectives from my "tripod in the sky". The lines from the track leading into the scene and the copse of trees just work, the boulevard of illuminted trees to the right frame the scene... enjoy.

Created in DDG Text 2 Dream using Renee's source, then several looks applied at varying percentages in Topaz Studio, and then a crosshatch brush stroke and color/light changes in PSE21 applied last. Also eye spots hand painted in PSE21.
Thanks for your visit, faves, and kind comments.

Greater Scaup and Lesser Scaup are hard to tell apart. In Lesser Scaup the crosshatching on the back usually extends to the sides, so these are most likely Greater Scaup. All four ducks in the photo are males. There were females in the group, but they didn't line up for me this nicely.
During the first week of the pandemic this was all the traffic to be seen downtown. The star effect is from a lens filter. It is a glass filter etched with crosshatch lines that give this effect when presented with a bright light source. The lens was Helios and the filter was from the film days when special effects were on the camera or in the dark room.

A sign seen several years ago in Tenakee Springs, AK. Seems fitting for 2020. What else might this year bring? Wait - not sure I want to know.
Formal photographic composition abandoned.
Stylistically a thick photo without depth.
Only it's surface is important.
The forground is unexpectedly chopped off.
It's design is simple: open horizontal lines in parallel with crosshatching holding it together.
A divine light eminating center left is simple enough. pure.
With a splatter of wounded souls wandering between life and death.
Jacob Haldi Bridge is a Heritage bridge that spans the Bedford Channel of the Fraser River, connecting Fort Langley ( National Historic Site ) with McMillan Island.
McMillan Island ( located behind me ) is the home of the Kwantlen First Nation.
The first Haldi Bridge was built in 1931-32. In anticipation of heavier traffic that would result from the ferry, the first bridge was replaced in 1957.
The red and yellow building to the right is an observation tower.
Fort Langley located on the traditional territory of the Katzie, Kwantlen, and Matsqui First Nations. The Kwantlen First Nation administers an Indian Reserve on McMillan Island, across Bedford Channel from Fort Langley. The local First Nations were important trade partners of the Hudson's Bay Company in Fort Langley, and many workers at the Fort married women from the local First Nations.
Fort Langley is a historic site dating back to the 1800's and is now a village community with a population of 3,400 and forms part of the Township of Langley.

Don't park by the yellow ones and don't drive over the white ones - taken for Saturday Self Challenge , 25/06/2022 - Leading
lines .
On my recent journey down to Kernow I noticed a number of roundabouts had road markings that looked quite confusing , they did actually guide you round the roundabout keeping you in the right lane for your exit - I would have liked to take a shot of these and call the shot " Mis-Leading Lines " . However , I am not sure of any of these locally so I had to find something closer to home and found this shot by accident just as I crossed the road ( I am safely out of the path of traffic on a traffic island and the direction post there made a good steady point for the camera ) .
In the first comment box is the one that got away and not chosen for SSC .
Where do we go from here -
could well be " Road to Hell " from The Irons !!
