Walking along the canal I saw many of these beautiful flowers. Here crocuses are one of the first flowers to announce the arrival of spring.

Thanks for your visit and comments, much appreciated!🙋‍♀️

Crocus (Crocus) is a genus of the iris family (Iridaceae), which includes 90 species. About a third of these are autumn bloomers.

The crocuses mainly come from the mountains around the Mediterranean Sea. The largest number of species originate from the Balkans and Asia Minor, with the exception of Crocus vernus (L.) Hill, which is found as far as Central Europe (Alps and Carpathians), and a few species such as Crocus alatavicus Semenova & Reg. and Crocus korolkowii Regel ex Maw, which are native to the mountains of Central Asia.
