Our pal Janelle invited us over to her farm to meet her dogs, goats, and alpacas! Lovely people; lovely critters.
Midwest FurFest was held November 29 - December 2, 2018 in the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago. Attendance was 10,700 and over $92,000 was raised for their charity, Sit Stay Read.

We visited Saunders Country Critter Zoo today. I have mixed feelings about places like this - the kids love to see the animals, and they're obviously well-cared for, but I know it's still not a natural way for them to live. Still, Tristan was pretty excited about seeing a kangaroo up close and personal!
Some of these look like they're in pretty tough shape. I imagine they've all been in the same position for many years.
Not sure how the black bear got here, and the bald eagle on the right, getting ready to fly, is big enough to take that elk with him.
