Yukwa; traditonal Korean puffed rice snacks. These are popular waxy rice food with a unique texture and sweet flavor from the honey or starch syrup used. A variety is coated with roasted sesame seeds.

Milk chocolate 32% cocoa 12% skimmed milk powder 9% whipped cream powder with 10% crunchy caramel.

Our crispy temptation! Once the tender chocolate has melted on the tongue the crispy side comes to the fore in an undreamt-of fashion. The finely roasted caramel pieces guarantee those sugar-sweet moments desired by all chocolate fans. Available as a large-format bar in a classy wrapping and as a 12.5 g mini-bar. Another gold medal award from the DLG!

Fish & Chips with London Pride.

Not sure if it was the added "London Pride" but the batter was nice and crispy (although it didn't look as airy, crunchy and thick as the one from The Golden Hind - it was closing post lunch just as I was nearing it the day before! Boo!!!) and it was surprisingly decent. I guess the "award-winning" claim might be legit after all. I was excited none-the-less to try real fish and chips, with the mushy peas. This was my dining companion's order (I believe they were out of cod, so he had to get haddock - which was still very good) but I found myself trying to sneak as many "samples" from it as possible. Hehe.

Last night my wife and I made a late night run for supper from Wendy's.

Very simple to make - to use as an accompaniment to a saucy dish, instead of rice. Rice noodles are boiled as per directions on package, rinsed in cold water, well drained, and then placed to about 1/4" depth in a small preheated skillet with a tablespoon or more oil on it. It will spatter when you add the cold-water-drained noodles. They have to fry on medium high heat for about 7 minutes, until the outside looks very crispy - then turn and try the other side equally long. When you place a spatula under the "pancake" it shouldn't bend (or at least not much) A pizza cutter is super for cutting the wedges.

This guy is not supposed to be my responsibility, but I've fallen in love with him.

The other day, our temperamental mercury vapor bulb seemed to peter out permanently, so I replaced it with an old reptile heat bulb that says it has broad spectrum sunlight simulation. I figured we were fine. But for the past couple of days, it's been nice and toasty in the cage, and instead of basking, Hendrix has been hiding, lethargic, under a rock.

Today, when I saw him sleeping at 11, I decided something was wrong and looked at the bulb box. No UVB! So I got in my car fast as lightning and went to Petsmart to get another mercury vapor bulb!

When I got home, I found the creature more alert, but I unscrewed the heat lamp and replaced it with the mercury bulb. After about an hour, Hendrix looked much better.

Phew!

I didn't want to love this guy, but I do.

THIS IS MY NEW DREAM FOOD. This meat was on the dry side, but the skin was deeelicious. Like crackers...made of fat.
