our first and only family snowman. we were a little psyched. two golf balls for eyes, a bubble pipe for a mouth, a yo-yo for a nose, a bowl for a hat, and plastic golf clubs for arms. obviously, us texans aren't prepared for snowmen!

A woody shrub (Lecocarpus pinnatifidus) that is adapted to Isla Floreana’s arid zone, which is slightly inland of the shore, conserves water in the extreme. Only its tips are green. By not dropping its dead leaves, it retains more surface area with which to catch nighttime dew. Photographically, I was intrigued by how the green tips stood out from the greys and browns of the rest of the plant, accentuating the seeming depth of the picture. I took this photograph on the northern end of Floreana Island (Isla Floreana)(Charles Island), 140 feet (42 meters) inland from the beach and west of Punta Cormorant (Cormorant Point).
